If the car hasn't generate much interest then to be brutally honest you have to look at the price
I never said it hadn't generated interest. I said it had been "slow".

the majority of people want a standard car
I'm perfectly happy to wait on the "minority" to come good then!

the fact that you mentioned not getting a sniff at the asking price does open you to comments about that too IMHO.
When did I say I "never got a sniff"???
I said that interest had been slow.... hardly the same thing.

In fact, I had agreed a sale, slightly below the asking price with an experienced Subaru owner (and ScoobyNet member) which fell through due to personal circumstances.

I had more than a "sniff"

If you want serious advice on what it's actually worth
I don't.

Anyway, you hit the nail right on the head....

I started a thread about the concept of a raffle, and I have been bombarded with (unwelcome) opinions and comments about price.

Good old ScoobyNet. (not)

Fair enough, but you should know better. OK, my mistake about not having a sniff - your actual comment was "Now, I have advertised my RB5 on most of the forums and the interest has been slow to say the least."

But if you start a thread about raffling a car and mention slow sales you're asking for people to comment on the raffle as well as the possible reasons you have to resort to this or at least see it as a better solution.

If you don't want unwelcome comments I'd stay clear of a public forum (and especially Scoobynet) to be honest.

Anyway, good luck.

How on earth do you come to that conclusion????

Where did I ask for people to comment on the reasons for interest being slow?

The thread was about a raffle, but as usual, good old ScoobyNetters see a chance to give their opinions and comments without being asked......

I used to think the the community was designed to help each other, but more and more members make posts and comments which they know are detrimental, yet they still make them causing damage to a person's sale. It happens dozens of times a day on here and is most unfortunate.

And since you asked.....

The reasons I considered a raffle are -:
1) I'll get my asking price
2) Some good could come of it - charity donation
3) No putting up with tyrekickers or test pilots
4) It could be fun
5) A ScoobyNet member could bag a cracking car for £20

It has nothing to do with lack of interest. If it were I would simply hang onto the car as I know it is among the best available. (dozens of folk have emailed me an pm'd me pleading with me to keep it, saying I'll regret it)

Consider the data protection act when you start collecting names addresses and contact details for giving the prize / or returning the ticket prices.

How do I know that you won't just give the car to 'a mate' who has bought a ticket and pocket the balance of the cash. You need independent auditing which is expensive. You need to publicise the winners details so that others can check. (What if your mate genuinely won? )

Even auctioning off old office kit among colleagues is fraught with difficulty and time consuming. Auctioning a car nationally, I wouldn't go there.

Breaches of said act pertain to the "misuse" of data held, which of course wouldn't happen

As I mentioned above, an independent adjudicator would have to be appointed.

It's not really about a breach of the act, but more along the lines of ensuring you comply with the act.

Because you will be holding information about many people (me being one if you go ahead with it!) you are required to register with Data Protection.
One of the things you are required to do under the act is qualify how secure the data you hold is.
The act is V complicated, far too much so for me to bang on about here, but PM me if you want further info.

Also I know the chap who runs one of these raffle type websites (www.ticket-2-win.com) he may be able to offer advice, or even put your motor on there......

Let me know if you would like to chat with him?

for £20 a ticket, I think you would have loads of takers on this and the other scooby/jap car related forums,

I'd buy one even though i'm not after another scoob

You've mentioned how many people are on here and various other sites. Why don't you do one of those 'voting' thingies on here to see how much interest you'd generate. If you get three people and an arthritic greyhound saying they'd be willing to take part you know it would be a non-starter and you won't have to trouble yourself with all the financual and legal worries.

Just a thought and best of luck in selling the car.

BTW, I'm not interested as my Terzo is a MUCH nicer colour
