Got Silver finally in the last test in Italy in the Integrale, but gold is absolutely impossible...for me anyway.

Agree with the Integrale on the italian circuit - v. difficult - the key is the last section from the hairpin to the finish line, get that wrong and you don't stand a chance!
Hardest tests to me are the coffee breaks!

Messiah - yeah those coffee breaks are a pain in the **** - just got Bronzes and moved on to be honest. 26 golds and 4051 points....blimey...I am feeling a bit crap...I have 10 golds. Cant remember the points but will be trying again later now I have a target ! Did u get gold in the economy ? Dont know why it is just irritating me - what is the trick ?
The Italian circuit is great - the last section should be full throttle all the way but of course nasty kerb etc make it a fine judgement.
I love the NY circuit now - hated it first though. Braking points are hard especially on the GT40 ! It's got no brakes !!

agree with you about the gt40 - brakes are so bad it could be a volkswagon...
got a silver on the economy test about another 5 seconds to knock off for a gold but I've only had a couple of goes - using analogue control is vital methinks on that one...
4 bronzes left and 3 are coffee breaks, the other is the "first" rally test - I'm doing something wrong but don't know what...
I think my favourite test is the fuji speedway in the mclaren - 10 laps to get first place seems like a proper race.
Love the opening titles too - fairly sedate then a scooby rally car comes at you
Points system is a bit odd i thought it was 100 for a gold, 50 for a silver and 10 for a bronze, but that strange "1" says otherwise... I think it must depend on coloured sections.

I'll never stand the concentration needed for 13 miles !!
I agree the Mclaren test is great - just I have found it impossible to even get silver - Bronze is easy but the next car is alot harder to catch.
How are u meant to get a gold in the coffee break whizzing around the tarmac when the cones are randomly spread everywhere ????

managed a silver on it last night - I think the trick is don't brake, the only bit you really need to slow down on is after the first corner (ie approaching the left-right s bend), from lap 2 onwards you'll be in 3rd gear and you need to be in 2nd - blipping the throttle usually does it if you're like me and stick to the automatic gearbox. Missed out on gold .3 of a second.
Also finally got silver with the gt40 around new york.
4141 points - 26x Gold, 18x Silver, 2x Bronze - 2 bronzes are both coffee breaks!
The mclaren test isn't too bad, you need to take about 4-5 seconds a lap off the leader to catch him, I think i did this - brake for first hairpin at around 75m, car will go sideways but your heading in right direction, for next turn brake in between the second and third cone that's on your left - for the next right-hander, you can almost go flat out but to avoid going off, stick to inside line and press accelerator as fast as you can repeatedly until track straightens then brake at 50 board. when you get down to the chicane, brake at the skid marks on the track, this'll stop you in time to cut the first corner off, setting you up nicely for that last sharp left - then it's flat out to the first hairpin again.
And tomorrows lesson will the grand canyon track (i hope

Tip for lesson 6 - First rally stage (from GT forum):
Lesson 6 Tips:
You shouldn't need to use your brakes
Use manual transmission
Feather the throttle when you need to slow down
Keep a smooth and flowing line
You should only need 3rd gear
If you have the driving line on (the blue dashed line), follow it but cut the corner on the final turn

Above message should read 'Only need 2nd Gear', as apparently that is for Usa games as they use different gear ratios !
Anyway - did that stage for abou 2 hrs yday (about 20 goes) and best I can do is 2 mins 29.292 - Gold is 2 mins 28.0 - and I thought it was a faultless run....SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Frustrating.........

I spent about two hours on the final challange and got Silver but now need to find a further 2 seconds for the gold. I really like that course
Hi.
yes its a brilliant course.its just the final bit where i think time can be made up.The fast left then it tightens and sometimes you hit the wall or the kerb.
Theres also a few other places where if you dont get it just right you may aswell just restart!
I use manual gears which helps me at the bit where you go downhill(near the end)i try to be in 4th just at when you get a bit of air going down the hill.

36 Golds + 10 Silver here, 5000+ points - dunno exactly, only one more gold needed on blue & red sections - anyone now what cars are unlocked for those?
The ones that are giving me greif are the new york courses and the coffee breaks.
So so close to golds on the following;
The legacy on the rally track
the lancia on the last test
the ford gt in new york.
the nsx in new york (still 2 secs from gold)
cone slalom in the nsx
found the economy test to be a complete peice of p!55! can't beleive how easy it was after I misread the test - I was trying to keep the fuel usage to under 100cc and you don't need to!
love the italian circuit - if you get the narrow sections just right it's tremendous - I find the trickiest bit is the blind right hander, mess it up and might as well just restart.

Those coffee break ones are pretty tricky. the legacy one where the cones are spread out all over randomly, thats a hell of a tricky one.just cant find the right way to go about it!
I think another one im struggling on is the small rally track one where you do about 5 laps in a small car, possibly a yaris or suzuki thing(cant remember)

ah - you mean the last one on the orange section, I finally cracked that one over the weekend.
I admit, the legacy one you mentioned - I didn't actually complete myself - the fiancee's brother was playing thinking he had his own memory card in! Apparently there are "circles" within the pattern, it's just trying to find it - I think he shattered the gold time but not sure what.
I keep finding lessons that I've only done once, found the one with the cusco impreza yesterday that i've not since first starting the game.
Think my score is 5041 - but of a way before I catch you mate! There's a few playing it now - Scoreboard required methinks!

I still need help on the small rally course in the Alto - how painful - I need to find 0.25 secs per lap and am finding it impossible - how have any of you done it ? Kept in 2nd all the time ? Use automatic ? What line do u take in the hairpin before the straight ?
God's it's annoying

4 more golds last night
nsx around the slalom course (golds on all reds - win some suzuki concept car ;()
coffee break - knocking over cones in cappucino (gold time 24.000, my time - 24.000, how close is that?)
Integrale around the italian street circuit (I was over a second away but then I nailed it!)
... can't remeber which other, only 6 silvers to eradicate now...
still to go...
nsx around new york
coffee break with rx 7
catch and overtake s2000 around new york
one lap around tsukuba in evo 8
one lap around new york in ford gt
one lap around grand canyon in scoob

Gotta say the rally stages are the ones I find hardest. The scoob and the Alto have kept me busy for days, but now I am trying the others I am getting more and more golds. Got 2 more last night. Although I did spend some 30 mins just 0.03 secs away from gold on one refusing to go to bed until it was done....
i finally did the small rally course.i think the trick is to keep your speed but not to drift.follow the lines on the track as tight as possible.i always use manual gears so dont know if its easier or not.
the main thing is practice.especially with the ghost car you can see where you can make up some time.half a second is usually all thats needed here and there!
that one must have taken me 30 attempts!!
just a fraction of a second off gold on the rx7 cone knocking one.god thats annoying!!

Had a disaster - corrupted the save game! Tip - don't try to save ghost data - I think that was what did it.
Started again and now only have 5 golds (not completed all tests yet), although I didn't know that the points was based on your times and not the colour of the medals...

as long as my gt3 save games doesnt get corrupted - 98.2% on that! Went back onto that to improve my "gold" count... couldnt face prologue again...
Bl**dy stupid Alto....0.3 of a gold....I am getting there but still not there. Got gold now through all the next 2 sections though.
Sorry to hear that Messiah - I miss the winning money/tuning yr car which was the real fun to me with GT1/2/3. Think Prologue is gonna get a bit dull soon.

Started licenses again - only because I'm gonna need them for full GT4. Currently back up to McLaren F1 around fuji speedway - I have a habit of going "off-piste" when trying to catch the last car though!
Realised how much easier the licenses are in GT4 compared with GT3 - I've only got 6 golds on that - and about 30+ bronzes, although I wasn't that bothered about them because it doesn't affect your game status percentage - (currently 98.2%, but don't think I can improve on that unless I master the analogue sticks
).
Also makes you realise that GT4 is much more polished in terms of presentation - I didn't think there was much of a graphical upgrade at first, but you soon realise there is after going back to GT3 - very noticable on the clock - very blocky on GT3 but a lot clearer on GT4.
Must get broadband - really looking forward to 6 player races...
