Nacro has some very valid points and I agree with a lot of what he says but just not the way in which he delivers it.

You can't expect to come away without flak from people who are offended, or in a lot of cases on SN, just simply don't understand his core sentiment.

The bragging of one's personal position does him no favours either. I know for a fact there are some on here that would be able to buy him out and sit his wealth in the corner and forget about it.(assuming what he tells us of course).

The Impreza is indeed in a league where it can be afforded by almost anybody. At that point any make of car has it's reputation ridiculed.

When the XR3 was new is what out of the reach of many, soon it was Fords ****óris and every c*** had one, dragging it's cred to base levels.

I always think if you have to wait for years for a main stream car then it's has already become popular and some what tarnished. If you buy when something is dear and relatively exclusive then it's cred is firmly intact.

As for the exhaust thing, well, any car below 400bhp doesn't really need a big bore exhaust, let alone a drain.

My g/f's import had a channel tunnel left- over piece that made it sound louder than a ww2 bomber. It was embarrassing with only 280hp because cars making no noise at all still glided by with ease in some cases.

The pipe is now standard and is much more fun. There is now no pretence of it being a road ninja but merely a quickish quiet car.

Everybody to their own though.

Well sad sacks/non-believers I took a trip 60 miles west to Pau, SW France for the historic grand prix and have been out enjoying myself before popping back into the office to give the impression I've been earning todays fat pay packet. Fantasize? I prefer to do rather than dream, as for my age I just hit 30 but fortunately still have all my hair, no paunch and the blood still pumps to the relevant areas harder than a heavily modified skyline on full boost.
