i think you have confused P1's

They are talking about the GC8 based on the Type R chassis and built for the UK market.

i think what he is saying is that P1 came from a previous prodrive incarnation that he was on the design team for but it never seen the light of day/production. the same "p1" name was then used for the GC8 car later developed by Prodrive

hence he originally coined the name "P1"
