I have a bespoke intake design on it, pix up soon, it's a pod in a box fed from the inner headlight (removed)

Hi Simon,

Very impressive project.

I'd like to ask a couple of questions, hope you don't mind...

Is the breather box simply vented to atmosphere through the big bore black hose?

What are you doing with regards to the space previously occupied by the boot floor panel?

Cheers,

Moray

Hi Guys, Q's welcome

Boot floor will be more 2mm ally checker-plate, I have a US "Jaz" fuel cell to go in there as well as a 2 gall water tank (and the battery)

I wanted to make it flat to aid fitting all these parts, also to be able to do something with the underfloor area aero wise (in time...)

Breather currently vents to atmo through the big hose, when I get a length of 25mm ID i'll take it right into the chassis rail.

Just need to get the intake "box" done now, that will then cover up the (large) hole in the inner wing.

I have also decided not to use the ABS for the time being, I like being able to turn it in on the brakes and that is not possible with the EBD system, I do however, reserve the right to change my mind on this at least another 50 times...

Cheers

Simon

Lol! What's the score with the slam panel and vertical stiffener Simon? It looks in a couple of the later engine bay that you've cut the slam panel away between the headlights (or is there a piece of something black laid over the top?).

If you have cut it/them out, what was the reason behind it, and has the front of the car gone a little wobbly without them?

BTW, FWIW don't blame you on the ABS decision. Don't like it - for the same reason you expressed.

Slam panel and vertical are no more space is needed for the intercooler / rad / condenser configuration.

Seems ok, not too wobbly, maybe needs a little stay each side, but we'll see after all the bits are in.

Cheers

You can use just about anything for that. I got an extruded aluminium box (designed to hold a piece of electronic equipment) from Farnell. A bit of work to seal the ends and fit the hose unions in, and it looks like it was made to do the job. Much cheaper than getting one custom fabricated too.

Well that was interesting

Took my car up the road with our MicroSat timing gear attached to it and did a couple of standing start 0 – 100 and 100 – 0 test’s. I’ll put the txt files onto my www site but suffice to say I’m a bit gutted not to break the 4 / 10 to 60 / 100 with the engine still std, I’ll try a couple more tonight as I got a lot of wheelspin on the first run and bogged on the second. Then I'll start tuning it

Figures so far: -

0-60 4.16 and 4.15
0-100 10.56 and 10.57
¼ 12.90 and 12.85
100-0 4.39 and 5.08 (rear’s locked up on second braking run)

Must try harder!!

Cheers

Simon

************* Acceleration Test ****************
Vehicle Si GC8
Time 22:48
Date 06/06/2004

Speed Time Distance AccelG
30 - 1.65 - 10.89 - 0.83

60 - 4.18 - 63.24 - 0.65

100 - 10.37 - 289.13 - 0.44

110 - 13.1 - 419.79 - 0.38

This is the last one I did Sunday, I am afraid some donut (me) forgot to tick the box for it to register the terminal speed on the 1/4 - sorry. But as you can see it's going to be a bit under 110mph

Cheers
