WILWOOD SIX-POTS
There is no questioning the quality of the Alcon/Prodrive brakes, and they are probably among the finest available as an option on any new car. I doubt there'd be anything in it between them and AP to be honest.
Are they available for other Scoobs, or just the P1? If not, why not?
Stef.

I recently bought a set of Subaru 4 pots from a guy off IWOC who had fitted Willwood calipers. He sent the Subaru 4 pots in the Willwood boxes, and on the boxes was written:
WARNING - NOT FOR ROAD USE
RACING USE ONLY!
This seems to support what Mike is saying... although it's interesting as I would have though any brake designed for racing would be excellent for the road

Our brake kit fits all Impreza as well as Forester and Legacy models if you are using 17" wheels with enough caliper clearance. We have designed this kit to fit with any wheel we supply that fits with the Subaru 4 pots.

This means that the internals (pisons and their bores) will not cope with the dirt and salt from winter road use.
Competition equipment is stripped, inspected, cleaned and re-built between every race, normally less than 100 miles.
We recently had a car in fitted with a certain six pot kit (not AP). It had no dust seals. One caliper had four seized pistons, the other had 3 siezed. It was less than a year old and the pistons were extensively rusted. Most had not siezed, but the rust and accumulated dirt was preventing free movement, giving "pad knock off" after each bend. They were alledgedly stainless steel pistons, but obviously a very low grade.

A little update and a word of warning, as I have now seen this kit on a Scoob.
One of the cars that came to The 'Ring with us at the weekend had it fitted the morning we left.
Hi-Spek had MACHINED THE CALIPER TO MAKE IT FIT BEHIND THE STANDARD SUBARU WHEELS!!!!!
This was done without the owners knowledge, and now means the calipers are two-tone. Some may even say they don't look too bad, but I don't care what anyone says, when you pay £1100 for a conversion you surely don't expect to pick your car up and find they've 'damaged' the calipers to make them fit?
I was horrified, as was the owner, he could do nothing as he was leaving immediately to join us.
Perhaps he will post his own thoughts on the matter.....
I thought you should all know this before considering parting with your cash.

Stef, saw them too. They were indeed machined, and it didn't look very "pro".
But just to be sure: were they 305 mm discs or 330 mm ? 330 mm behind 16" wheels would indeed be pushing it, and would explain the machining on the calipers. If they were 305 mm, then, um, they have some work left to do.
Can the owner shed some light on this ?
