Just remind me what the difference is between PP's and Normal SO-2's?
I'm hoping to get a new set of rubber on Sunday but I'm undecided between Toyo's & SO-2's on 16" wheels? Does it just come down to price?

SO2s are a markedly better tyre than the Toyos, but cost £100 per set more (£400 Vs £500). IMHO its more than worth it, but if cost is a major driver......
SO2 PP were a development on original SO2s, focussing on greater sustained wet weather performance. PPs have a dual compound, which improves/maintains wet grip as tyre wears down. Original S02s have a marginally softer compound and hence marginally better dry grip, but not as good in wet, and will deteriorate as tyre wears. Original SO2s still beat P-Zeros/F1s/AVSs etc in tyre tests

How did you come to that conclusion?
I haven't seen any tests comparing the TOYO's with the S02 PP's, but I'm going for the TOYO's purely on the amount of positive comments I've heard.
I would say that the TOYO T1-S appears to be a better all-round tyre than the PP's.
Add that to the saving and voila!

How long the tyres alst will depend on what tyres they are, how much pressure you run, and how hard you drive them.
It is quite easy to make a brand new set of tyres illegal to drive home on though!!
Just take it easy, use my mate's tyre van to increase the pressure and come in regularly to let them cool down.

Personal experiance (passengered in Toyo shod and both passenger and driver with SO2s) Toyo shod car understeered 10mph sooner on same corner, but mainly from a couple of guys in the tyre trade who go on assessment days pitting half a dozen tyres against each other. Their verdict was Toyos are great, and by far the best of the budget tyres, but still behind the 'real' performance tyres. SO2s were the best, recently revised F1s next (although disappointed with dry performance), P-Zeros are 'old technology', Yokos are great in dry, but not in wet, Michelin too hard, good dry grip but crap in wet.

Thanks for the info guys
I have had lot's of problems with the wrong sort of rubber on other cars so it's nice to get the low down on the options before I fit them.
Now can I afford the £100 extra? VISA/MASTERCARD to the rescue!
