Got my bolts now and they have 12.9 on the top rather than the 8.8 that the others I purchased had on them.

Ian do you advise that I fit the ones you have supplied or leave them alone as they seem to be ok.

Am I the only one with Mintex pads then? No squealing at all with these!

The numbers are the strength rating , the higher the number the stronger they are , change them to the 12:9 's , There is nothing wrong with the new bolts we have sent you , been using them for years

Cheers Ian

Ok, bolts changed, torqued up, threadlocked, job done!!

Been up the A57 snake pass at an alarming pace today and had no problems at all. Superb performance!!

Group buy on rears anyone?

Default all ok now

right subsequent to my earlier post, my 14mth old kit is all tickety-boo again. One broken bolt replaced, both disks skimmed (I got them done locally, but thanks for the offer Ian), all back together, no wobble under braking.

I also changed pads (old ones worn). The new ones are green stuff, the old ones 1144s. The new ones are noticably sharper. Don't know if it's coz they are new or just better.

Re squeal, the only way I got rid of it was to fit metal shims between pads and pistons. Works a treat (no amount of copperslip did the job).

thought there was no room for shims. Greenstuff might be sharper but heard they don't last as long, but can't have everything. cheers for advice though.

Graham

My 335mm upgrades also induce some steering wheel Wobble on braking. Vey slow speed braking feels like a slow on/off effect.

Is this the problem you had ??

Mine feel good except the car dives like made on extreme braking probably due to them being so big. Rear brake upgrade next I think.

Rear brake upgrade won't stop the car diving, if that's what you're hoping. Way to stop that is with stiffer springs (possibly with stiffer slow bump setting on dampers), or altered front suspension geometry.

Most of the so-called "anti-lift kits" available promote diving under braking, so if you have one of these fitted, you might want to remove it.

For anyone interested in a group buy for the rears this is what Ian has offered.

Rear standard size discs, drilled, grooved or both to match fronts. I think these can be solid or vented depending on MY, but we need to check with Ian first. £145

Mintex pads M1144 £85

Ferodo pads DS2000 £125

Delivery £10

Ian has offered free delivery and a 10% discount for 10 orders or above of complete kits, ie pair of discs and set of pads.

Cheers,

Wayne.

GM, not that I doubt your experience in these matters but I just wanted to clarify the rear breaking effect on the front end of a car.

I replaced all 4 discs on my run about (Cav GSI) after fing the rear ones were shot completely. The effect was that the car was more level when braking due to having better rear braking. So what I am gettin at is that from my experience, rear braking helps loads.

Are you saying that uprating the rears wont help?

Has anyone with the 335 fronts noticed if the front calipers are rubbing against their wheels? I haven't had a thorough look but I think mine are.

Has everyone from the group buy had replacement bolts sent out. Still waiting for mine.

Whereabouts on the wheel Phil? Inside where the balancing weights are fitted on on the spokes?

Phil , your the one who bought Gavins car arn't you , if so they clear the RB5 wheels , they don not touch , they may touch wheel weights but not the wheels , and as I fitted that kit it would not have gone from here with anything touching , if it touches the wheel weights it would have stopped soon after as they are only made from lead which is a very soft metal and would have worn them away in a matter of a few miles.

I can send you another set of bolts as you should have had them by now , I will send them recorded delivery , anyone else not had any that should have ?

Cheers Ian

I noticed a 'rubbing' type noise in the last week on my OSF (which is the one the bolt came off). I did a test this morning, when I heard the noise I continued with the gas pedal but pressed the brake with the left foot. The noise went away but as soon as I let go of the brakes it came back.

Any ideas?

Mine are very close to the wheel, but there is no contact between the wheel and calliper. It it did make contact there would be quite a bit of noise and feeling through the car. Even when my bolts went/snapped it still only just caught the weights and not the wheel.

I get a bit of low speed rattle from the brakes and have found that it is the pins that hold the pads in. Give the ends a good amount of pressure when bending out to make them tight and it all stops.

When i drive slowly I hear a slight rubbing I haven't checked yet. Not sure if it's just pads, but the calipers look very close to the wheel spokes. I think they might be JUST catching, hence the noise. I won't be able to check this till next week now.

I haven't received my bolts yet, cheers Ian.

Godspeed rule!

Finally got my brakes sorted and gave them a thorough workout today at Goodwood. They were superb - my standard setup (MY03 WRX) lasted six laps at Castle Combe last year. The Godspeed kit performed brilliantly all day today. It's taken a long time to get sorted but the end result was well worth it

No new bolts for me??

Mine does a bit of low speed rattling. Do you use the big gold springs?
My kit has a problem causing the calipers not to be centered 100% around the discs. Not touching but also not quite right I think.

The springs you mention were missing from my callipers when I bought them second hand, doh!!

So I will just have to make do with keeping the pins as tight as I can, unless I get off my backside and buy some!!

WARNING for everyone who has these brakes!!!!

I nearly killed myself last night driving home. The car would just not stop at all and I just about took out a wall and a couple of pedestrains!!

I should say that I was driving the Cav and not the scoob!! I have just got that used to how good these new brakes are that driving other cars is plain bluddy dangerous.

I just cant stop grinning at how fast the scoob will decelerate!!!

Awesome!!!

Off out now to play!!!! Again!!!!

Nice one Welloilbeefhooked, read the first bit and thought the same.

About the split pins, you said that bending them a little bit more might stop the noise occuring. How do you do this with them on the car and what did you use to do this?

Sorry for sounding dumb.
