Godspeed 335mm kit - Any problems?

Maybe you can post up which bolts you used instead of the split pins?
The strength markings on them and how much torque needed to tighten them?
I think you said your dealer fitted them? Just an idea.

I'd love to, but I've no idea. Basically I asked my local garage to fit them (they'd done a few other Scoobies). They didn't like the split pins in Ian's kit (who was I to argue), so they fitted some other bolts instead.
When the Dealer stripped my brakes down last week (to cure the squeeling problem on the rears) they commented that there was some excess pad movement on my kit and that I should fit the "correct" pins.
I have the ones Ian supplied, so I'm going to fit these over the weekend.

I have some Brembo calipers that wont work with this kit (wheel clearance)so I've put the whole lot up for sale including the 4-pots so I can buy the correct offset discs/bells/hoses etc from Ian.
If anything I'm being a tart and looking for a better visual appearance now I've joined the RB5 OC.
Now if I wasnt truly happy with the kit I wouldnt buy again from Ian.

Being a tart and a member of the RB5 OC seems to come hand-in-hand
There's been some reports of simmilar problems with the AP kits and the DS2500 pads and since Ian's kits have only been supplied with these pads in the last 12 months we've all been slight guinea pigs. I'm certainly not blaming anyone for being that - it was my choice afterall, but looks like I'll need to try some other pads to be sure if it is indeed the pads that are problematic on large disc kits.

regarding wobble under braking, I have just cured the wobble with my 14mth old Godspeed kit. The disks were warped (one more than the other). They have been skimmed and are now fine.
Not sure why they should have warped as it has only had light track use (about 5 laps at bedford in granny mode). ANyway, they are working fine at the moment.

If they weren't measured it could just have been pad deposits on the discs which the skimming removed, if this was the case and the pads haven't been changed the vibration may well come back.
From peoples responses so far i think it may well be the DS2500s that are the root cause for may people..... group buy on ceramic EBD red pads anyone???
Tony.

Yep
they were measured and I have got the runout measurements somewhere. One was just about tolerable, but one was def out. It was also def the disks and not corrosion or foreign bodies between the disks and hubs.

Update regarding brake pad squeal and rattle
After having the problem with low speed squeal and the pads rattling in the callipers and not being able to solve it, I decided to modify the pad retension system.
Both problems have now been solved. Heres what I have done.
1) To get rid of the squeal I have filed the section of the pad that pertrudes over the edge of the disc (when there is some wear on the pads) so that I dont ever get it again. I have also used the backing shims from my original setup with a little copper slip.
2) To remove the rattle from the pads I have filled the holes that the pins go through with JB weld (chemical metal stuff) and drilled them with a 6mm drill bit. This allows the split pins supplied with the kit to slide through and gives enough clearance to allow the pads to slide along the pin as the pad wears.
To mark up the holes prior to drilling I used the original 4 pot pad to give the correct alignment, but other methods could be used.
Job done and no more problems. Hope this helps someone.

I filed the same lip of but I still have a squeel, I'm not using the shims. Didn't think there would be space?
Ingenious thinking with the chemical metal, so basically you repositioned the holes to where they should be instead of having large ovalled holes which allow the pads to move about. Nice...

I don't have any squeal on mine, but the Dealer did mention that the pads moved around too much, so there maybe something in the pad holes.
I assume it's the pad holes that were filled and drilled and not the calipers.
