LIVE FOR SPEED - ScoobyNet Server
#241
Hi All
It seems we have been invaded by a bunch of morons who are banning the ScoobyNet guys.
For this reason, can we please nominate a password holder out of the people who play. Then all people who want to play can PM the password holder who can reply with the password only if they have been registered for a while, or are clearly a scoobynet member.
Sorry about this guys.
Once you've agreed in here who the password holder will be, please can they PM me and I will change the password and give it to you.
All the best
Simon

OK we need perhaps more than 1 password holder responsible for letting people know what it is? Those of us that race on it regularly could be listed here for pm requests to be sent to us for the password. We can then let these people know once they have had their SN profile checked out.
There seems to be 5 or 6 of us so far that play pretty much every night so could all help out on the password issue?

Sadly this dosnt work very well . You can only use the server when and if a nominated sn member is online and can send you the password. What a nitemare. Dosnt really give you any encouragment to play lfs on the server. Come on lets sort this out there has to be a better way. No offence b20 but you still havnt sent the password dude

It's just a temporary thing until you know the password. Once you've got it, it won't need to be changed until the same situation happens again.

Simon

If I was racing at a 'rl' track day in my 'rl' car I wouldnt want someone banging me cars doors for fun just to get ahead. Remember folks, this is a simulation, not some Playstation or Xbox console bash em up flat out on every corner with no braking needed game, look out PGR2 for that sort of wham bam action, I know I do.
I dont mind a bit of mindless racing with a few beers in me but I also appreciate a bit of 'realistic' driving with harsh consequences. When I was playing GTR at international level many a time I spun out in the first few laps only to sit on the sidelines wondering wtf after I had just spent 2 hrs practicing for a race. Harsh but true. If you take it a bit seriously then yeah, it can be v harsh, but then the rewards are as great as anything else that takes commitment, skill and a bit of effort. You get nothing for nothing

Installed GTR 2002, then BPR Endurance GT.
It is a brilliant simulatuion, only taking a couple of hours to get the hang of.
The settings also make more of a difference and have a far greater effect on the car IMHO.
Not forgetting the sound.......when I first heard that flat 6 rumble of the 911GT3 whilst just sat in the pits on tickover.(external view) it was amazingly real, not to mention the growl when reving the engine or the roar from the internal and bonnet views.
It looks great but would run much better on a more powerfull rig.
It would also be brilliant if scoobynet ran a server for the 'LFS' clan. (hint, hint)

Apparently keyboard users have an advantage over wheel users with the lighter, faster, twitchier cars. LFS seems to have keyboard assistance build into the game code, which for instance allows KB'ers to drive at full power over kerbs with one wheel on the verge\grass when that is impossible with an analogue device like a wheel as you cannot control a car in this situation with a wheel (as it would be in RL).
Much as I'm really enjoying LFS and havent particulary noticed this 'flaw' myself (although some peope seem to be able to take a much tighter line over certain sections I cannot say for sure they are KB'ers) if correct this seems a major problem with the game physics in what is purported to be a simulation with realsitic physics. If this is true then these sort of arcadey physics will spoil LFS as a hardcore sim with wheel users IMO.
This is not sour grapes BTW as anyone who has raced with me knows I can hold my own and can win races against most peeps np.
What do people who have used both a keyboard and wheel think, have you noticed more control with the KB, do you get faster lap times? I've never used a keyboard for driving sims myself and dont intend to now.
