What I was after really was why the physics model is more / less accurate. Nothing you've said in the description tells me anything that LFS doesn't have (except for different actual tyre brands, etc. But that doesn't actually affect the physics, merely makes the physics work on a different parameter.
This is the same with all the setting your mention.
I would be more interested in whether, and to what extent they are measuring the load transfer in transient states, or do they use a static state model, etc, etc.
GPL is very realistic, but has some gaping holes in the physics. It makes for an all round fun and (as near as damn it) solid physics model, but it is still not as realistic as LFS in some areas.
GTR2002 does sound good, but it is very easy to fool yourself into believing that a physics model is more accurate than another purely because it "feels" better, etc.
I will definitely check it out though.
All the best
Simon

NP Simon, I will deffo percivere with LFS and I guess I would really need to buy the full game to get the full LFS experience, but at the moment I just feel GTR has a certain something extra in terms of both physics and general involvement. You would really need to try them both I guess. Perhaps I've just been playing GTR to much, hope to race with you soon though

OK, being a bit bored as Im off work atm and putting my money where my mouth is I now have the bought full LFS game, and..............................
I must say I'm impressed, it seems a lot better than the demo, dont ask me why, perhaps the new tracks, but I really enjoyed the last few races I had. Physics just seen so much better to the demo, wierd. Looking forward to racing with everone now
Still sounds like a wasp in a bottle though

Right Bob, I managed a consistant 1.39/1.12 split on the GP track with a few careful tweaks to the setup, this was with the first default car, the XF GTI, so have managed to accrue 140 points or so both online and odffline, enough to get me the Turbo beastie. Sounds less of a hoover thankfully. I am now officially ready to tan your virtual ****

LOL don't you go and get some stonking setup for the turbo! I am still tweaking mine (more like completely ballsing it up ) and its only going a tiny bit faster.
What are you like with setups? I could do with some help That flat4 is the one to beat! I think hes put a bike engine in his car

Seriously I'm OK after playing about with GTR but I still like to dl a few to see whats what with the oppo's. Managed a 1.30 in the turbo with just a few tweaks, seems a minted car after driving the other hairdryers. If they had given you this car to start with I would probably have bought the game much earlier

Doug download it and try it! I installed it on my laptop (PIII 800) thats only got an 8mb ati card and it still ran lol. I also had it on a PII 450 desktop with an 16mb matrox card and it ran. Just try it with all the settings at lowest and build it up to what it can handle.

What server was it? I got kicked off a public one on my first ever race with the full game and every single player booted me just cos I crashed into a couple of people on a rallyx track. I wasn't happy hence my thread on their forum Hence I stick entirely to Scoobynets server and am awaiting the full game server *ahem*
The scoobynet one we have had lots of crashing into each other which has been quite amusing at times and if it ruins the race we just restart - no big deal like they make it on the public servers.
