Understeer

Let me clarify what I mean, the SO2's have more grip (esp in wet). So if you just plough into a corner at high speed once with SO2's once with cheapies it will understeer in both cases but at a higher speed with the SO2's.
So yes, if you look at it that way - less grip = more understeer. It's not reducing understeer, just giving more grip all round - this is not quite the same as having a handling modification like BSR or ALK.
I don't plough into corners fast, slow in keep power balanced until the apex then increse as you straighten the steering wheel. It's what happens when I apply too much power here - when the car's balanced that I'm talking about -
pre BSM / ALK = understeer,
post BSM / ALK = 4W Drift (maybe a little understeer) or oversteer if you then lift off.
This happens with either tyre choice but traction's lost at a different speed in each case.
Hope that makes sense (and yes I'm sure this is all the wrong way to drive etc, but it suits me OK) All in my experience etc other cars may handle differently.

All,
Just finished driving Nozzers car, thanks very much Ian most appreciated mate!!.
As you all are probably aware, Nozzer car has the BSM done at Powerstation.
I will be booking an appointment for next week, took me a good 20 minutes to find a few good roundabouts and fast lanes, but the difference is noticeable even driving at 30 MPH.
Car travels in straight and doesn't follow all the tracks in the road. (I understand this may be caused by the standard Bridgestone tyres). Car brakes and stops in a straight line, mine doesn't tends to wander.
Feels more planted and safe (as someone else has said), and made me feel like I was driving my RS2000 again (sorry boys, but I love her!!!).
One more point to make, I NEED the Stainless steel exhaust and New air filters!!! The turbo, and dump valve sounded superb!!. Mines to quite at the moment, but don't want it sounding like Richard Burns car. Good compromise.
For a car that's done nearly 120k Ian car drives like a dream, and I'm very very impressed. Found driving mine after quite "Funny" (4k).
I will be booking the next Airfield day and attending the Exmoor run. So look forward to meeting you all.
Thanks for all the free advise boys, it's appreciated.
P.S. Came back from driving Nozzer Scooby and had to go to the garage and look at the old RS. Me think that I want it on the road for the Summer, only this time it will be Cosworth powered!
Cheers all, Phill Cocking.
