Whatever happened to people doing something themselves?
Those MLM based ideas are cr4p to say the least, not only that but they are as old as the hills. Also, those that have asked for information will never make money as the very fact you have asked shows you have no real drive or initiative.
Making money is for leaders, not followers.
I started on eBay for something to do whilst spending time on the pc and within 3 months was selling £11,000's of somebody elses stock with a 65% net profit margin . Somebody I never met or even knew. I simply emailed them. That continued for 12 months until my supplier started on eBay too and cut me off.

'If it wasn't for poker'
And Ocean Finance.........
Only joking, must pay well cos you work for local government dont you ? I do and earn about as much as is possible in Local Government and still feel a bit underpaid for what I (can) do, my get rich quick scheme involves getting of my lazy **** and cashing in on the contract market, all my colleagues are on 300 - 400 a day. Oh and a nice little bonus on the horizon.
For me the pyramid thing is a fantastic way to make money, if you are at the top and manage to convince several thousand hopeless cases to pay you for some tat, I mean Amway to me just says Looooooser, I worked with a guy who kept going on about his lucrative sideline and how he would jack his job in soon cos he was making to much money, what a load of crap, he drove a clapped out Citroen BX and was always skint, after he left ( to go to a software house) it transpired it was Amway, he made out like he was selling arms or something the tit !

Selling cars can be lucrative, I never get the time to go looking but usually do a few a year, have never lost yet, broke even on a hundred quid Fiesta once but generally minimum of 200 quid and a personal best of 2 grand that I promptly spunked away on a Fiat Coupe that I lost 2 grand on.

Not much really if you think of it from a business point of view, but as a supplement to our current earnings its the equivalent of a raise that I would never get at work and does not have a great cost aside from our time (few hours a week).
Drop me a mail if you want more info.......

I've got my own music production business - doing all sorts of stuff audio/music-wise. This is also branching out into multi-media in general.
I'm lucky that my job is also related to this (as is my previous job) - didn't make much last year (but I was upgrading the studio and writing my own stuff!), but this year, it' onwards and upwards.
The "additional" income can be very lucrative, but rather than having set fees, all projects are charged by merit (some I've even done ata loss, because it's worth more to me in "advertising")

In general the only person who makes decent money from MLM is the person who starts it - all the others lower down are just getting peanuts while making the person at the top more and more money - hence them being so keen to get as many people involved as possible and BS'ing like hell about how much money you 'could' earn from it.
Having your own business is the only way to ever make real money, but you also need to realise that you'll more than likely be skint for a couple of years while you build it up, and you always run the risk of making nothing one month rather than the nice cosy salary you get working for someone else that is guaranteed each and every month.
All these 'make X amount in your spare time' jobs are generally complete BS - they are someone getting you to sell their things on commission ( like party plans etc... ) by the time you work out the slice of the pie you're getting you normally find out you could get more working in Burger King part time.

I brought it up 2 days ago, from nearly two years ago to see how people were doing with it. There are so many dreamers in MLM, I wondered if anyone had made anything of it.

A family member has started selling ACN telecoms. Price seems to be about 5% cheaper than BT, but like the Mannatech example above seems to fail the five tests on this helpful site.
With other family members previously having tried various MLM organisations with no success whatsoever apart from the ones that were heavily product based with immediate reasonable returns from your sales rather than massive kickbacks to uplines, I remain very cynical.
At points of being very fed up with training and career choice, I nearly ended up selling mortgages and in Amway
I could have wasted so much time and thrown what turned out to be a good career away...
I was an eternal optimist, now I think I am a realistic cynic

Mike,
Yep bang on that about sums it up really the only reason these MLMs keep going is because of massive churn otherwise if everyone recruited half a dozen people and that was perputuated through 7 or more levels you would end up with everyone on the planet being involved and even Amway who have been around 30+ years have very little market penetration.
People can and do make alot of money in MLM but there are many disadvantages too and if you really want to make alot of money out of MLM start your own one and get lots of distributors to agree to purchase x amount per month to get their comms and you'll shift alot of product!
The old
"It is illegal for a promoter or a participant in a trading scheme to pursuade anyone to make a payment by promising benefits from getting others to join a scheme. Do not be misled by claims that high earnings are easily achieved." line I saw peddled above is trading standards definition of what separates MLM from pyramid selling however most MLM schemes add a 'retail' sales element to the business which keeps them within the confines of the law, however everyone entering MLM knows the *real* money is from recruiting others and so really the above statement applies and means that MLM only really just scrapes through legally.
Ive been involved in MLM and made some money nothing life changing and with right product can work but I think the model is flawed and ultimately if it was *the* best way to sell goods then the current retail kings like Tesco's would shut their shops and sell via MLM!
