Yes please if you could.

Are you going to keep the individual coil packs on this set up or are you going to change to the type that sits on the inlet manifold?

I would like to discuss the pros & cons but dont know anything about the differences between various headers & design.
Would be interesting to find out.

Which types/makes actually increase the mid range?

Which types/makes actually increase the top-end range?

What differences does the pipe diameter make?

unequal length= ? power differences/spool?

equal length= ? power differences/spool?

& do they really need wrapping?

Anything else I could have missed out?

after doing **** all over the weekend thought i'd better do something this week off came the IC along with the throttle body

throttle body port & polish

before

after

ported the TB opening to smooth the flow from the silicon hose to the TB, then set about taking as much off the spindle as i dare, then swapped the 2 screws for some shorter, more aerodynamic ones and tapered off the flap to a point on the leading edge

then just a simple, quick port on the IC y pipe leading edges, again to remove the step

before

after

and the revlight in action on my motorbike, looks like an easy job to transfer it to the car when im ready

not been home most of the weekend but had a chance to fit the TB back on

and then had a go at making some heat shielding for the heater pipes under the IC, not sure how this will effect the air flow yet

The pre-edit was much funnier Mick.

Throttle body looks like a work of art Kev.

I'd personally stick to insulating the matrix pipes, or binning them altogether.

i'm still in 2 minds if to keep it on or not, i'd make it a closer fit to the pipe if that stuff was easier to cut think i need some tin snips

IMHO I think this shield will slow the flow through the TMIC dramatically.
The incoming air stream will hit a flat wall and be forced to go left and right.
As stock the air will scoot past ove a much larger 'free' area full of hot pipes.
I think Carl lagged his pipes, and i think that is the way to do the heat soak bit.
Graham.

that's what i was trying to work out, once the air's through the IC i can't see how it can 'back up' into the IC if it hits anything soon after and so disrupt air flow through the IC

I'm not sure if the hunt to keep the heat soak down is worth it.
Heat will get to the TMIC in 2 ways:
Driving the car at full throttle at slow speeds, ie at a hill climb/country lane bash.
Car sitting in traffic for ages.

The bigger the TMIC the longer it takes for a cold one to warm up (it weighs a lot), but it will take longer to cool down too.

Hill climbing yesterday i found myself waiting 5 mins to get to the start line. I can't keep jumping in and out of the car to open the bonnet, so just kept flooding the TMIC with water spray.

If you want to avoid a hot TMIC fit a CO2 spray or a FMIC.

Graham.

Looks like its coming along very nicely. Lots of attention to detail. Your porting and polishing looks like a work of art!

had another play tonite to see if i could just get the sheilding over the piping, think i've achieved the 'better than a kick in the mouth' effect i was after

port and polishing's very theraputic

Did you shorten the 2 screws on the spindle in the throttlebody and stick some loctite on them so they dont come loose?
Cant see from the pics but I presume you did if you thinned the spindle down for better airflow.

Nice porting of the TB. I'll post my version tonight - not quite as pretty though but hopefully effective I did mine a few months ago and I've been champing at the bit to finally fit it.

My heater pipes have been foil wrapped for a while now but I've decided just to add some plumbing type insulation to them.

The only shield I had was to cover the clutch release to avoid drenching when water spraying...
