Thanks for the offer Phil, but Blackjax is built into the Clifford model I'm having fitted. Plus you would not believe me if I told you how little I paid for the stand-alone BJ on my last Scooby. It pays to have mates who own car audio / security businesses

See you on the track (Probably out of my side window as I'm being towed out of the gravel )

Sticky

No gravel at Rallydrive, just corn. Maybe not so much in a frosty March though!

I am proposing a day at Rallydrive near Gainsborough, using their 1.25 mile private circuit. I have been offered Saturday March 13th for £400 for the whole day. It's up to us how many cars attend, and so the final cost per car could be as little as £20 for the day if we can tempt 20(max). Also, Howard Patterson, an international rally driver for some 30+ years, and owner of Rallydrive, has offered to make himself available for half a day at a cost of £150 for personal tuition should we all be interested.

The day will be srictly informal . No scrutineering or huffy rules (so you can fit your loudest exhaust ). Obviously this is all in the name of fun, so we will use our own rules to ensure the safety of people and cars. After all, it would be no fun if someone got hurt or (even worse ) damaged their car.

It would be good if we could between us come up with some sort of shelter (canvas gazebo/large tent?) and BBQ facilities for the day. Offers of help on this front will be greatly appreciated. Rallydrive is not a large organised official motor racing circuit, but merely an old concrete airfield in the middle of a corn field. Although, the site is well respected with, among others, Tim Sugden using them for testing and elimination heats for his Clio Challenge competition. Even Ari Vatenen(who ) has driven there! This is why it is so cheap and easy going, but also why there are very limited facilities. There are a couple of portacabins about 1/4 mile from the circuit with warm drinks and toilet facilities, but if we can arrange some more stuff for ourselves it would be better.

I'll edit this 1st post to add names as they sign up. Feel free to post on here or email me as profile.

The time is drawing near, so lets fill in some of the blanks. I propose that those travelling from the West Yorks area will meet at 7am (yes Al, it does need to be that early) just off J30 M62 (Rothwell) for a 7:30 convoy. It was going to be at the Cedar Court J39 M1, but that would mean some would have to travel 8-10 miles south on the M1 only for everyone to travel back up to get on the M62. I've plotted a provisional route which takes us along the M62 to J35 for the M18. South to J5 onto the M180, and on to J3 for the M181 into Scunny where we can top up with Optimax. We'll then head south on the A150 (A159?), thus avoiding all the cameras on the A15.
The nearest Optimax/SUL is the Scunny one, approx 10 miles away.
We are hoping to have a couple of barbeques running around lunchtime, so please feel free to bring suitable provisions. (TBC)
Helmets are available on the day, but feel free to bring your own if you have one.
Passengers are allowed, as long as they have signed in, and are wearing a helmet.
Spectators cars will be allowed to park near the track at an entry fee of £5 which will be deducted from the total cost which is to be divided equally between those driving on the day. (If we could get 80 spectators it would be free to the drivers )LOL
I've replied to the 1st post to bump us back up and get some feedback on the proposed meet-up and convoy. I'm open to suggestions. The route was the most time/fuel economical my route planner could come up with, passing the nearest Optimax garage en-route. Maybe the Hudds/Wakey guys still want to meet at Cedar at 7am, and then convoy up to meet us Leeds/Bradford guys at J.30 M62 at 7:20ish. Discuss!
mick02wrx - Are you still OK for bringing the gazebo? I'll get a couple of disposable BBQ's. Everyone bring their own food.

Is there anything we've overlooked. There always is, LOL.

What about payment, for both the day and the instruction. Cash on the day or do you need something up front?

I assume you have had a word with Shell to send us a tanker half way through the day so we can fill up again?

I'll be at the Rothwell/Wakefield exit of the M62 for 7:15am. I'll probably be at the Rothwell side of the roundabout, where there are a couple of large lay-bys (easy access back onto the Eastbound M62 too), there's ample space there for us to meet without causing any disruption anyway

Sounds like its going to be a fantastic day, i cant wait

supertouring - Cash on the day will be fine. We have 18 cars signed up, so if everyone shows it should be £23 each, plus the tuition for those having it at £150 split equally.
Kel1977 - 1st to sign in for the convoy

Has anyone got a stopwatch so we can maybe do some timed laps? If not I might get one from Argos for the day and take it back after I suppose a chrono wristwatch would suffice, digital being easier. Anyone?

Looking forward to it

Hmmm What about some topless Page 3 models to cheer us all along, im sure they would go down well!! If not I might be able to get Dani to go topless for everyone.
On second thoughts that might not be such a good idea as we would all crash!!

OH.. MY... GOD...

We're supposed to be bringing people in!

You know you're not supposed to bring the girls out of that box at the back of the pub...

I expect to see out numbers plummet... unless of course, you find them atrractive?

speedstermick - Of course you can watch. It's £5 entry for spectators, so for another £15 or so you can have a go. No pressure to rag the @r5e off your pride & joy, just do what you want. I won't be thrashing mine, I can't afford the tyres yet

See, the pit girls allure worked almost immediately!

I'll be at J30 for the convoy (Is that the same place as for the Scooby Shootout 2003?)

Steve - I'll pop you on the convoy list. I've lost your phone/email details as I had a minor Mac crash and had to do a re-install.

Am I too late for this?

I am from West Yorkshire and only just seen this post! Doh!

If so, I already have a helmet any other things I need to bring?

What about passengers?

P.S. I am a $hite driver so would not mind a bit of tuition.

Damian.

Excellent,

I will have a look at where your meeting up as I think that is at the beginning of this thread.

Just gotta put my jap wheels back on for this.

Will there be an area for changing wheels? If not, I will put em on before I set off?

Damian.
