What really pisses me of is when there is a slight bit of drizzle in the air then on go the fog lights.....end result is loads of glare off the damp road.

i actually got pulled over for driving with my fogs on the other night.
'are you aware that you were driving with your fog lights on which is an offence under.....etc etc'
i was shi**ing bricks for a minute until i realised that the reason they were on in the first place was quite simple. because it was foggy. eventually got 'let off' (for what? still not exactly sure what he was letting me off for???) but it still didnt stop him checking the car over though did it!!!
by the way i drive a modified saxo vtr (max power style )

Here in the USA, everyone with fog lights _has_to run them to look good. Scr3w all the oncoming traffic. This is best done with an SUV whose lights are eye-level to people in ordinary cars.

My worst pet hate is when people use front fogs as a substitute for the headlamps, and just drive on sidelamps and the fogs
But it comes a close second to the drivers that drive obliviously on just sidelamps alone in the dark! And it seems to be getting far more common - noticed half a dozen the other night when it was foggy!!

FAO the people who would like to see fog lights banned - You'ld feel proper stupid if you couldn't see in the fog, or you couldn't see somone infront of you.
FAO the people who blame all french cars and BMWs - these cars are almost there for sorting the problem out. When you turn the headlights off, the rear fogs turn off, so make the switch turn the fronts off aswell and then you can only turn the fogs on in good weather intentionally. (I used to drive a 306)
FAO those who call them driving lights - some cars in the UK have rear foglights, and the fronts are called driving lights, but they only come on with main beam. Their Jap version models have no rear fogs, but the front fogs are controlled by a fog light button, so not driving lights!!! Depends which country you're in, as to whether it's better to see than be seen.

I cant believe people are so bothered about fog lights. I dont use mine unless it is foggy (which is quite a lot here recently, especially when coming back from a late shift at work). But I can honestly say the number of times someones fogs have annoyed me I can probably count on one hand, and then its more likely to be driving lights than fogs.
Far more annoying things happening on the road IMHO.
Simon.

Here's a trick I use when someone behind me is running some annoying auxilliary lighting ... which is almost all the time...
I aim my inside mirror so their lights are reflected back into their eyes, not mine. Here's how: I lean over so my head is in line between my mirror and the front of their car. I aim the mirror so my eye is directly blocking my ability to see a point between the driver and his lights, somewhere along the bonnet. It's a bit difficult to explain; try it sometime with a car that's parked behind you as a following car would be.
Usually the following driver will back off (god forbid he should actually shut off the lights) but it doesn't matter to me because those lights are no longer glaring in my eyes.
As for the red rear fogs, they are just beginning to appear here and no one knows what they are. Many people drive with them on, probably just because it's another cute little indicator light glowing on the dashboard.

This is one of my big pet hates. The front fog/sidelight combo really hacks me off. At first I thought it was just young 'uns and boy racers, but now, everyone seems to do it young boy racers and old farts alike. You should NOT use fogs unless visability is LESS THAN 100 METRES. Says so in the HIGHWAY CODE. Simple as that. Thats my two penneth.

On a BMW, the switch isn't labelled "Fog". It's labelled "Look at me!"
