Hello Neal
thought i had better let you know how the remap went, now i have moved house and things are looking normalish again.
Well chuffed with the result, even the burd has stopped complaining about the cost now she has driven it.
So to recap MY99 wagon, full de-cat and back box with green panel filter 267BHP and 259LBS/FT OF TORQUE! Did the de-cat the day before, bugger me it was a revvy little beast after that but gutless in the midrange unfortunatly.Anyway that bumped up the power alone to 260bhp but only 226lbs/ft of torque.
So once again well chuffed. The difference is so noticable in the cars driveability,it was definatly money well spent.
Thanks for organizing the group buy i probabally wouldn't have had the work done at full retail. But saving the 140ish quid was just enough to tip the scales
cheers for now Tooney

After toying with the idea of going for 2nd hand ECUs becuase I've spent too much money on unneccessary shiney bits thats scare old peope and aftermarket gauges to make my car look like the bridge of the Enterprise, I've gone back to the original idea of joining in the GB.

I'm booked in for 26th January (Pay day!!!) for a re-map.

Mods are :-

De-cat zorst
K&N induction (after speaking to Rob he said leave it off till I get there so he can make sure its the right one)
HKS SSQV (From the group buy so unlikely to be fitted in time but won't need re-mapping after)

Other stuff to fit:-

Mudflaps from Scott Lowe and the Group Buy
Autometer boost, oil temp, oil press, AFR
Knocklink
Sunstrip with "Prodrive" logo

Not looking for high BHP figures just a safe increase and mapped to suit mods - Sunstrip apparently good for a couple of Bhp so most important.

Busy January then?!

Cool

Hi All

Toony nice one on just a few minor mods.

James, I will have a chat with them on monday for you.

Ed, welcome back matey !

Sunday, passed my car over to a mate Rob and sausage fingers to fit a new clutch, lightened flywheel, brake pads, discs and 440cc injectors. Got the car back last night and ran down to PE first thing this morning ensuring that I didnt go into boost or over 60MPH on the M40 due to injectors causing over fuelling. I left Cov at 6.45am and got there at 8.30am on the dot ! No traffic problems just me ambling.

Dropped my car off and took home a curtsy Ford KA as I was told it may take at least a day to remap to my mods on my MY98 with 58k miles. I had a good chat with Chris about my mods and expectations.

Mods

VF24 turbo
Full decat
KN induction kit with lots of cold air feeds
Uprated fuel pump and regulator
440cc injectors
Samco intercooler hoses on standard intercooler with manual water spray
AP organic clutch and lightened flywheel
Furry dice

Got a phone call at 5.40pm and was told it is ready to pick up

Final power output was.....

311 BHP

and

288 LBF

WoooooHooooooD D

Only problem is I cant pick her up until Monday as I am working Sat and Sun 6am-6pm . Then got to run the clutch and brakes in for a few hundred miles .

I will let you all know what she drives like when I get her back

Cheers

Neal

Neal,
Iv'e got an induction kit fitted where and how have you bought in the extra cold air.I remember fitting an induction kit to my last car and got a piece of flexible pipe with it to help bring in air, didn't get this on the scoob kit.

Hi Mate

I have a mini bonnet scoop and have openned up the front of the resonator located in the drivers side wing. The air flows through the slats in the bumper and straight into the cut out in the resonator and is forced directly into the path of the induction kit. You can remove the resonator totally and use flexible pipes if you want, access to the resonator is via the drivers side front wheel arch and a couple of screws via the engine bay.. I have also fabricated a shield to keep the engine heat away from the induction kit (see pics on last Group Buy posting)

Just the pipes
Induction kit was cool close to the exit of pipes but warm towards the engine. Far more responsive than just the warm air of the engine bay.

Pipes and scoop
Induction kit is cool all over but will get wet when it rains which is why I fit the original cover on rainy days.

Cheers

Just a quick question about having the car RR'd. What preparations should I make before going?

Obviously check the levels and have a full tank of Optimax but what other things should I do?

She pulls like a train and goes like a rocket...

Well happy with the results

My mate with a modified 22B said its as quick or if not quicker than his in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears Bring on a Santa Pod day .

After picking the car up I had the long pants task of joining the rest of the world on the M40 so to spice things up a bit I kept pulling into service stations so I could blast out of them

Had a little play with a new S3 who wanted to play chase me ! gave in in the end . Caught up with slow traffic, when it cleared he dropped a gear with a puff of smoke and booted it. I stayed in 5th and floored it and kept closing the gap until #25MPH when we had to slow down for traffic again I have never seen a person look in his rear view mirror so often !!!

Rolling road session

Check tyre pressure, oil, fuel and coolant levels are all ok. Thats about it really.

Have fun

Neal

Hi Neal,

Glad you are pleased with your results, but did you manage to get P/E to part with my £60, or to say they are going to put me a cheque in the post AGAIN.

Talking

Glad to hear you are so happy with your motor Neal, mine is booked in for next thursday - rock on

As for the comments pre RR session, I'd add that you could change the oil for greater peace of mind, it's going to get a bit of hammering so if it's been in there a few months it wouldn't hurt...

i'm down for 11.30 greg, hopefully i won't get lost and i'll see you there!
what MY/mods have you got? mines a MY99 with full magnex decat and itg panel filter, we'll see how much they differ on the same day hopefully, coz there seems to be a bit of a range between outputs of similar spec cars posted so far.
as for the girlfriend, she's ok now, calmed down a bit! we've just had to downgrade the holiday in spain to a weekend in skegness!

Hoskib, glad to see you have your priorities right

Well had a little bit more time in the car on some familiar roads and BLOODY HELL she is quick now. Its amazing how much ground you travel in so little time. Glad I upgraded my brakes .

I have had the Knocklink briefly flicker a few LED's which I hadnt seen before the remap but the ECU quickly knocked that into touch so no problem! AFR meter is flashing away like a 1970 disco! all I have to do now is read the instructions to find out what they mean . Meanwhile the boost guage is now peaking at 19.5PSI and holding a solid 19PSI (which is nice). Lower down the rev range there is no lumpyness or lag to notice and she drives as well as she did before the remap but get her above 3k and she goes mental . The Mrs hasnt had a go yet as I think she is a bit frightened by the thought of all that power. Might be best to keep it that way

Many thanks to Merv and Chris at Power Enginering for an excellent remap and connecting my AFR meter. Top marks guys !!!

Cheers

Neal

Hoskib

My only performance mods are a scoobysport centre de-cat, and back box with a green panel filter.
Hoping for a more usable power delivery mid range for overtaking etc.

And its an MY98.

See you on monday

Greg tell Chris and Merv what you are after when you get there. Point out its a good strong torque curve you are after rather than pure BHP.

Have a good run down, it should take 1 1/2 hrs max and its dead easy to find.
