After reading Mike Woods comments, then reading mine, I'll will agree I was possibly a little harsh
Firtsly and most importantly Insurance quotes, not me or my wish list will have more affect on the Spec of any UK Car
Secondly there are probably more STd UK Subarus bought than any Speacial editions
More people will buy a UK car for the Safety net of Warranty than any other reason my original reason
Once you have 2 or 3 Subaru's, you become, addicted and complacent it is wrong for me, the minority, to try and impose my choice on others.
After all that is why there are choices of spec's

Thing is quite alot of people void their warranty for modding their pride and joy anyway, so it kind of defeats the object you might as well get an import! I know some dealers are more understanding than others, turn a blind eye on somethings, but if anything major happens, they're surely gonna tear up the warranty!? Plus if you don't declare your mod's to your insurer, you're treading on very thin ice, and if you do then you can remorgage your house!
Personally I do like the idea of a high spec'd car with warranty, you are going to pay a premium for it, and whilst you could always do stuff to it, you're fairly happy with the performance as standard, and can save yourself loads of cash on mod's that wont' hold their value, and possibly even decrease the resale value of your car and have a valid warranty. Not that I could afford either at the moment, unless I get lucky on the lotto, but I think I have more chance of ******** Kylie than that happening!
Thing is with modding cars as well is it seems to become like an adddiction, everyone I know that's done it, just can't seem to stop once they've started. ££££££££££££££££££££££

The same thing happened with the P1, UK300 and appears to be the same with the new special.
I think people are fed-up having to pay a premium to get a car anywhere near a std JDM car, especially when it's just a different colour (that's readily available in Europe anyway) and some Prodrive wheels that can just as easily be added to any car
That's one reason why I've kept my RB5 and probably won't ever buy a so-called "special edition" again. I feel Subaru UK are trying to encourage new owners rather than giving them what existing owners have longed for.

If I had £30K, I wouldn't be looking at a new UK Subaru. I'd be looking at a JDM from someone like Iain Litchfield or looking at Subaru's competitors.

Thing is Stefan, you are a grown up Subaru driver who knows the score with regards to what you can achieve now in terms of JDM spec cars. Most buyers arnt like you, the UK press certainly isnt either it seems and they are only really interested in the UK spec vehicles (Iain Litchfield has worked wonders in that respect recently). So in that respect the Solberg is probably going to be a big hit, especially with the people on the fence between an EVO8 FQ and the STi8 PPP.
It sounds like a step in the right direction if it turns out to be what is expected now, we still have the issue of it costing an arm and a leg though.
With the state of the $ right now it would probably make sense to buy a USDM STi and convert it to RHD, it would only cost you £17,030 brand new paying full dealer price (which you could get discounted). But thats another subject.

am a bit miffed here...but how much "better" is the USDM STi compared to the JDM RA STi???? ok, for starters USDM STi is a 2.5 rite? and the rest????
wouldn't it b better than JDM Spec C STi??

Unfortunately, the UK seems hung-up on "special editions". There's nothing really "special" about them.
The UK300 was a bare-faced attempt to shift a stack of MY01 WRXes that nobody wanted to buy.
Rather than play the "Special Edition" card again to shift a stack of MY02 Bugeyes when the restyled '03 model year Imprezas were announced, IM decided to lop £3,000 off the prices, a mistake that has harmed values and residuals across the range, and from which the marque will take a long time to recover.
Now, with a load of old shape Legacys that need to be sold, IM decide to blackmail the dealers with a new Special Edition Impreza. Are we seeing a pattern here?

GM yes it's called desperation and you are so right about disorderly maketing effecting resale values but then the people at IM marketing dept, all have company cars so don't give a toss anyway!!

I was told by my dealer last night the following details.
It will be unvieled by Petta Solberg at the Autosport show on Sunday.
It will be that horrible midnight blue or what ever it is.
There will be 500 available
it'll have 320 or 330 BHP
And adjustable rear diff.
Personally I've heard it all before but I'm going to go along to see for myself.
