Mac
Dan,
Yes, I agree that the Mac has specialised somewhat in the media area. And yes, there are a lot of people using them.
But overall, Mac users only make up a small percentage of computer users worldwide and this I believe is why Macs are not targetted by hackers / virus writers.
Now where is my G5......
Cheers
Ian

Right then, lets stop the fighting and help clear up a few myths.
P2P: I connect to eDonkey, KaZaa, BitTorrent, Gnutella all on a regular basis.
IM: I use MSN Messenger and AOL IM, I could also use ICQ or IRC.
Apps: Microsoft have the biggest Mac dev team outside of Apple. Adobe, Macromedia, Roxio all make Mac applications with the same functionality as the Windows versions.
Users: I'm a Computing undergraduate covering Java, C++ and 8086 assembler amongst other things. I PREFER to use a Mac. You may not. My mum PREFERS to use a Win2k box which I built for her. I build PC's for people fairly regularly and even have one sitting on my desk although it is not my primary machine.
How about some PC and Mac users asking reasonable, well thought out questions to users on "the other side" and we see whether we can suprise each other with our answers.

Don't forget Apple brought us the popularity of FireWire, USB, Zip drives, plug and play, the GUI and stable, Unixed based OS for all not just techheads.
I'm not biased, just enlightened ;-)

What is clear is that people who never really used them will never consider them and therefore always dismiss them.
Those who have used them in industry for years know how good they are. Those who haven't simply think people buy them for looks.
Mac = Scoob
Windows = Vectra

No point in arguing about.

Exactly my point.
I don't knwo many people that have used both and stuck with a PC. I gave mine away as it was horrible to use and unreliable. Only bought it to play games and thats all it was any good for, oh and looking ugly too.
