STI 8 Tuning Path
Steven, only a few of my parts (currently being fitted as we speak
) are APS, FMIC, upipe, highflow turbo outlet, exhaust system & Dump Valve. I decided to get a different turbo other than the APS DR/SR series. It should be an interesting result because the Car will be the same spec as G forces demo car except for the turbo. I have seen the graph for there car and hopefully I will have one to compare it against. If they'll let me have it I will scan it and mine then put it up here to see how the Lateral P turbo fairs against the APS SR40??????
The link you put up shows the new DR series turbo (note: rotated mount up pipe?) and external wastegate, this is currently running on the APS demo car in Auz rumoured to be around 500HP (don't shoot me here...lol) with the standard internals....how long it will last is the big question???
My next stage is to create the same position for my turbo with rotated up pipe and unrestrictive inlet to the turbo with the help of certain people (you know who you are lol
)
Chris, as a comparison for other people to see, what's the individual componant prices?
What is the price of the APS DR550 & DR650 Turbo chargers?
APS Rotated Up Pipes & 3 & 1/2" Downpipes?
Relevant Inlet pipe to rotated turbo?
Modified intercooler pipework to suit new position?
Will the 3 1/2" Down pipe mate to my APS 3" system?
Conrad
Edited to ask Chris some questions?

Update:
All's going well,
FMIC is on. (Where to put the Reg plate is my next question?)
Exhaust system on
Gems on
MAF (in the bin)
APS Cold Air Intake on (with extremely large filter, not the supplied one
)
APS high Flow tapered up pipe on.
But.....
as ever, nothing is straight forward in this life.
Turbo fitting, oops not quite a DIRECT replacement ( I did know one place would need a little grinding). Two lots of grinding required but its in place now
Not sure if the bell housing bolt will go back in though????
Oh no, supplied banjo bolt for turbo oil feed doesn't match the standard STi oil pipe, replacement banjo bolt on its way, hopefully arrives today.
Good, back on track!
Did I speak too soon....:O
Bloody Tomei injectors sourced from Phase2 mototrend are a completely different fitting into than the ones on the car, they wont go anywhere near the fuel rail.
So the recommended....
Are no good to me and will be up for sale, obviously must suit earlier cars.
Thats going to hamper/limit my rolling road session, I now can only go as far as the standard injectors will let me until some suitable replacements are sourced.
Ok time to move on......maybe not?
I hear the cry
Ok never mind, don't use it, put something suitable on, no more setbacks please!!! Something else to go for sale.....
MAPPING TODAY HOPEFULLY
albeit slightly detuned because of the standard injectors.

I got 740cc injectors for £359 shipped from Phase2motortrend. They are SR20DET Tomei Red injectors. http://www.phase2motortrend.com/tom74sr20det.html Like a lot of 740s they need a slight filing of the plastic case and the pins bent to fit but that is no real issue.

your ports on your (Recommended, see earlier in the thread) Forge recirc dump valve is too small, we will have to map round this

No Luck today, water feed & return pipes needed lentghening to fit the turbo, new banjo bolt collected from earls at Silverstone. Build should be complete Monday
Mapping now booked for Tuesday.
I'm sure It'll be worth the wait!
