What bugs me is how many hours worth of heli, in car and out of car footage. Yet they only seem to show 10 seconds worth of the stage per a car.

If I remember correctly didn't it used to be on for like 1 and half hours a few years back????

Copy of my response, perhaps they might be taking some notice ??
James,
The decision was made to stay with the live cricket until 7.30pm which necessitated a schedule change for WRC which, in turn, meant that we had to drop the scheduled cricket highlights.
As you can imagine, the scheduling of our programmes is one of the most difficult tasks we undertake as our viewers all lead different lifestyles and, therefore, would wish to watch television at different times. We, therefore, do our best to assess a programme's content and judge from our experience the most suitable time for transmission.
We apologise if the scheduling of this particular series is not convenient for your own viewing, but do hope you will understand how difficult this task really is. Please rest assured that your complaint has been registered.

Regards,
John Burnby

It is crap on ch4 and eurosport. At least eurosport show more car action, as ch4 tend to spend a good 10-15 mins of the 30min show talking. But then you come to the problem of actually locating them in the TV mag, i got up one sat morning at 6 to find eurosport showing the previous days action.

What will happen if they carryout the proposed action of live coverage, there has been a fair bit on wrc.com about it?

the late night wednesday showing is not the same footage as during the week. It shows much more incar in particular.

It's pretty obvious to me they simply cant get the footage edited fast enough to give a good programme on the same night as the rally for 7pm showing. In the USA Speed Channel have changed their format this year and now do a summary programme after the rally, rather than the small programmes same day, the Americans seem to like that over the drivel they got last year.

The best solution would probably be to run the program in a late night time slot, the same time slot, every night, say 11pm. That way most fans of the sport will have access to it or tape it for next evening viewing and we would get a much better production rather than trying to cram in the editing in just a couple of hours. Putting out drivel at a prime time slot isnt exactly going to improve the sports image with the masses, never mind the hardcore fans.

Covering the top few isnt what the fans want to see, its boring! Even the drivers are bored with it now, Richard Burns was shaking his head at the stupid questions he had to answer, it was embarasing to see him bored out of his brains with the same rubish. Lets get the real stories from the rally, far more interesting "talkies" will come from the lower teams and their battle to compete, then we can have the footage of the big boys making the cars dance. It seems such an obvious idea to me.

As to the people on the program, Jeremy Hart talks complete tripe, does my head in. John Desborough is insincere and doesnt show a passion for the sport. Penny is good but she is restricted in what she can do, Robbie head has improved a lot but needs to be a bit more imaginative, he says the same things every rally.

It's too low brow right now and needs someone with class to turn it around. I watched the 1988 Shell Oils British Open Rally championship video the other day, made by BHP and comentatored by Steve Rider, it was miles better than the CH4 coverage we get with no bollox like jeremy hart spouts, and that was 15 years ago!

This is all in my humble opinion of course.
