ScoobyNetPlus Members - EBC Brakes Free Test
#65
Hi All
Just to re-iterate.
This is only open to ScoobyNetPlus members.
You do have time to sign up now, since Andy will be drawing the names out of the hat in 2 weeks..
But... IT GETS EVEN BETTER!
Andy has just emailed me and is so pleased with the response, he's going to give the 10 members a set of greens AND a set of reds and would ask (but you are not obliged to) if you would test both - it's up to you.
All the best
Simon

Agree with John Felstead. EBC's old brakes were utter carp on the scoob. So its good they have addressed this at long last and will be interesting to see how they've progressed.
I hope they are putting similar processes towards their other products - especially their red pads as these were downright dangerous on my scoob. I went through 2 brand new sets of turbogroove disc's and greenstuff - with very light use they both warped on my way home. They were then changed to turbogroove and redstuff which didn't warp. However they took ages to heat up enough so they worked, when hot they faded and wore out in just over 3k miles

I'll expand on what i meant by crap a little.
My own experience with EBC greens was pretty terryfying. I tried them first on my Cossie, i took them off after 100 miles as the fade was frightening (yes i am hard on brakes, but they faded earlier than OEM pads). I also found the greens suffered in a big way from green fade initially, this is where the chemicals in the pad rise to the surface and form a film of liquid between the disk and pad, hopefully that has been addressed too.
I gave them another go when i installed the AP's onto my STi, the grip levels they gave were very poor, the braking was less eficient than on my original STi 4 pots with OEM STi spec pads, so that was disapointing as i was hoping to avoid the dust issues of most uprated pads.
This was all road use, not track.
It's very generous that they are going to give a set of red and green to try, i am able to test both types and am willing to do so on the road plus take them over to the nurburgring in september and do a lap or two on each, i think that will allow a very good test of their capabilities and give a good indication of the fade/wear charicteristics.

I'd be happy to do a 'Ring trp test ala JF
Some nice roads on the way and a few laps of the toll road should allow a fair evaluation.
Brembo fronts / OE rears

I agree with John. I use Ferrodo in my hi-spec set up now... The greens did fade badly and were prone to releasing agents which coted the disk and made them worse and got to a point where it felt like the disk had warped... change the pads, rub the disks and away you'd go again for a few miles!!!
I'm happy with my set up now so don't want to test them but I am just putting my opinion accross (and to agree with John) and would be VERY interested to here the results of this test...

Update
Apologies for the delay.
I had my laptop stolen whilst out of the country.
The draw will take place on Tuesday / Wednesday depending on time constraintes, so you still have time to register your interest / complete your membership.
All the best

No. The magnex thread was started by a supplier. This thread was started by me.
This means that on this thread, I am able to confirm that everything is above board and can be sure that it is of benfit to everyone rather than a blatant advert.
As it turns out, I have now spoken to Magnex as everything WAS above board, so that thread will now be unlocked.
