theo,

no dig taken.

appreciate what you are saying about the tmic, but I would assume that people modding in this way would also consider the likes of boost and temperature switched waterspray and perhaps even water injection too.

Plus I am spoiled with my own ecu set up, and assume everyone has temperature compensation built into their ecus. some do, some, don't.

The thing that would temp me about the tmic, is the maintained simplicity of the engine bay.

One thing I dislike about my car is that under the bonnet it bears no resemblance to the car I bought.

Thumbs up

Maybe also consider a charge cooler ?

I'd agree with Adam that water or water/methanol mix injection plus water spray with a TMIC can give excellent results

I found that engine response was sharpest with the TMIC, especially on the JECS ECU as you can't compensate for the extra system volume of a FMIC during transient air flows.

Cool

Andy's not joking with regards to the transient airflow compensations... even with revised pipework, the pace FMIC on my car exhibits large transients. It would be amusing to see how large these transient changes would be with a less optimally piped IC (eg HKS).

Adam, the maintained simplicity is a very good point, as much as it looks "well 'ard", it doesn't look very tidy. Further more, one point I forgot was that you can't use your OEM airbox anymore should you wish to do so (MAF related issues).

Even after frigging around for ages, my bonnet doesn't close properly either...

Andy, I think you may have proven a point about chargecoolers FWIW I think Mark (EMS) is thinking about a charge cooled system too, as he doesn't like the pipework either.

And Moray, you are correct, and I forgot to mention that as well... especially on lift-off, even with a "tuned" recirc DV, there is still reverse air going past the MAF, making the car a bit jerky, but most of all blows oil mist on the already fragile unit. Of course, this is all assuming one does still use a MAF, something that I very much would like to get rid off, but AndyT possibly not.

Cool

"And Moray, you are correct"...

Thanks Theo. My postulation was based merely on the analasis of datalogs I made whilst mapping the transient fuel correction on my car, so it's good to have your confirmation.

It is suprising how much compensation is required.
