I know they are rated up to 1.8bar so someone must have done it.

What boost did you set it at and what power did you get out of it? What was the rest of the spec?

I have to decide wether to up the boost on the MD304 or purchase a TD05/06 20G from Mark.

Any views appreciated.

P20SPD has one of these and I think runs it above 1.25 bar.

At the last Well Lane day he got over 340bhp

I ran mine to 1.5 bar peak but couldn't get it to hold boost to the redline, but that may be because I am still using the OEM ECU. I'm not sure.

I'm now using a TD05FE on the OEM ECU and it doesn't spin up as quick, but holds boost better. With only the turbo and inlet pipe swapped I went from 314bhp to 344bhp on the same rollers.

Cheers

Circa 1.3bar on mine, however this will be increased in the not too distant future.

On many a cold morning, and me being too lazy to lift off, it often holds 1.45 bar in 4th per the defis, with no hesitation and no dropping off of boost.

I should lift off, but often can not be ar5ed, but the car flies then.

I will be aiming for about 1.4 to 1.5 shortly.

Rich - Oh yea, I forgot you ran yours that high. The latest results on the FE's are looking very tempting. Will probably see what mine can hit at high boost first

Steve - Let me know when you do increase it. I believe the Defis to read 0.1bar over the actual MAP so 1.45 isn't that high.

The 1.4 1.5 will be as per the link software boost table, not the defis

Thumbs up

I had mine to 1.4 midrange, tailing off to 1.2 at 7000.

Problem was it only seemed to fire up the knocklink with more boost, and not give anymore power.

It did however produce alot of grunt on low boost (which is a good thing).

Rich how can you run the TD05FE on the standard ECU? are you running an AFR?

The reason I ask is I have a TD05FE sitting in my garage but dont want to fit it until I have a decent ECU, but if you are running it without any ECU mods then I think I will fit mine ASAP...

I will be very interested to see how steven gets on with higher boost on the md304,or see if he runs into problems similar too us.

I guess they are still sold for 350bhp at 1.3bar at the redline and able to run 1.8bar if wanted. it will do 350bhp at 1.3bar at peak power, as we found and steven among others too, but when we tried to push it we actually started loosing top-end power with the higher boost, possibly choking the exhaust side of turbo. these where back to back tests with a AP22. the higher boost made the car feel faster in the mid range with more torque but the top end lost 20bhp at wheels. changing the map back to circa 1.3bar(ecutek so could swap back and forth), the car felt slower in the mid range but gained the top-end 20bhp back.

this was basically the case with a md305 too on a link car.

Wink

Have been running 1.5 bar on an 01 car with an MD304, an impressive turbo that pulls and pulls.

Currently tweaking the engine and will know if it can run more that 1.5 bar the turbo not the engine (going to have to get a new boost gauge as mine only goes to 1.5)
