MR2 Turbo... can they look tough?
#32
Leave it as it is - why make a sexy looking car look mean and ugly? Toyota got it mostly right in the first place. Thats like taking an E-Type and putting a scooby bonnet intake on it. It shouldn't be done.

philz - that is absolutely stunning. I had a mk1 MR2 for 7 years and loved every minute of it. I'm not too familiar with the newer models - what year/model is yours and roughly what sort of price are they? Thanks.

Mine is a 1994 Revision 3 but it's not for sale I'm afraid. I spent the best part of a year searching for the best condition MR2 turbo in the country till I found this one. It's only had 1 previous Jap owner and 1 previous UK owner who was fanatical about it (you should see the lever arch folder full of stuff he gave me!)
When I bought it (1 year ago) it had never seen a Winter, the bolts underneath were still totally rust free, unfortunately I've taken it to work a few times over Winter so they're not quite as good as they were Now that the weather is better though I'll get underneath and clean them off.
If I ever come to sell it I'll know where to come

Don't buy one if you like twisties, i had to get rid of mine cos the trottle response/lag is amazing, when stopped you can get your foot to the floor and off again before the engine even revs, and it's no better on the road, the steering is dull to, which upsets me because it could have been so good. still it's quicker than a standard wrx!

RB5, that doesn't sound right. I wonder if there was summat wrong with yours?
Mine has no noticable lag and bucketfuls of torque but I guess that it is decatted and has an Apexi air filter which might help it breath better.

Think you might have had a dodgy one - my N/A has good throttle response and the steering is fantastic - it's assisted by power but not so much that you cant feel whats going on. Its great fun round the twisties. Did you have a REV 1 model with no P.S?

Nope mine was rev.2 and i've driven a couple too, agree with bucket loads of torque, mine had full 4" de-cat. it's the engine mate, celica GT4 is the same as for handling, yes razor sharp, super quick but not enough communication hence mine went sideways far too often in tight corners....
