Red Funnel have just got back to me with the restrictions that they didn't tell me about...
"The ferries may be booked for between 16:45 and 23:50 on both days."
The Sunday timetable is different to the other days, so the earliest ferry is 17:30 (rather than the approx 17:00 shown for the rest of the week.)
If this doesn't work out with people's travel plans then I can see if we can get some mid afternoon places, however, they're not keen to let us travel for reduced price in peak time. (And TBH I can understand why...)

Just priced this on their website and we have saved a grand total of One English Pound on my crossings:
Friday night 19:35
Sunday Afternoon 17:30 Webprice £41, Scoobynet group buy £40
whoopee!
How far is the hotel from Cowes? Want to see if it's worth coming down Friday night instead of Saturday morning.

Was that for a car and 4 people? If so then it's the best price I've seen in a long while. I'll do a quote myself as that's plain silly!
The hotel's not far from East Cowes - nothing is far from anywhere on the IOW Probably about 15 to 20 minutes... but then that depends on whether you want to go the fun way or not
Remember the ferry goes to East Cowes and you won't get a Scoob on the floating bridge between Cowes and East Cowes if you have any form of front spoiler.

I would advise people to Not book the ferry just yet.
It looks like I put the details up prematurely as there is still a bit of a negociation to have with Red Funnel.
I checked the web prices and it seems that the timetable and pricing have changed, not in our favour.

Right here's the score from my end.
1) Jenny arrives at mine on the Thursday night so we were thinking of going over on the Friday morning & having a mosey around before the rest of you rabble turn up We'll try & leave a little earlier on the Sunday as she has to be at Gatwick for 8pm for her flight Don't want it to be a rush so we want to get back & chill for a bit first as it's 15 mins from my gaff Would be cool to still get the ferry discount but looking at the times available we may not be so lucky
2) Why are you ferrying from So'ton? Do they not go from Portsmouth as well? I may look into it as it's nearer to me and we'll probably be ferrying alone anyway
3) Iain what's the score with the Hotel. You say it's booked but can we have the name of it, a number, a reference etc...so we can pay for it, or at least put down a deposit on the room or something. Sorry for bugging you mate but i'd like to get it all sorted ASAP so that i've one less thing to organise
Cheers

Maffa,
1) Nice idea
2) Red funnel don't go from Portsmouth!! That's Wightlink that dnb has already looked in to!!!
3) I still have to talk to them (I'm a little busy as you know!!) ref. the price. I will E mail all those on the list when all is sorted. I will not be posting where we are staying or even the town for security reasons (I'd appreciate you all keep it to yourselves as well)
The hotel know we are coming. Don't worry!! I just have a couple of loose ends
Thanks you all for your patients. I know your all getting excited

Well the Ferry times and fare I got on the internet seem pretty damn good, why not save yourself some hassle and just ask people to start booking? In fact I am getting a later ferry out due to logistical probs my end...like I don't wanna have to take time off work as it then gets VERY expensive.
Regarding hotel 'security', as mentioned somewhere above its a small island, 20 scoobies at ANY hotel that weekend would be pretty easy to find LOL

I would still really like a price for the hotel. Contacted them directly and for what we need it would be prohibatively expensive so I hope the negotiated rates are far better.
They should think of their room rates and then think of the bar usage........

Okay guys I think i'll try and get a ferry crossing leaving Friday morning (cheaper after 10am I found out) and returning Sunday Lunchtime I think it's about £65.00ish
I'll wait on the Hotel thing as long as it's a definate. Don't want to get stung with a single room when i'd like a double. If not just to fit me and my McDonalds/Burger King/KFC in it LOL Soz Jen <flame suit on!>

True,
but we have just got a subway!
i personally recommend getting hold of some freshly caught lobsters - we eat them by the bucket load in the summer. in all my travels i still reckon that Bembridge lobster is the best lobster you will find any where - yum!
usually, when i am staggering along the beach to home at about 5 on sunday morning, after a particuarly good post-pub closing bonfire on the beach with my mates, i can see the nice man who provides us with our lobsters going out in his boat to get same. after a nap, i rise at approx midday to greet the dear fellow and take delivery of lobsters. i then prepare them and invite a few friends for lunch by the poolside, quaffing rose' in the sun!
its nice to think that while i have been snozzing and recovering from the previous nights savagery, there is good work taking place for the revitalisation that follows a few hours later.
when i have been suitably fed, i take my ease with a glass of refreshment to reflect on the weekends sheninigans and watch the house martins and swallows ****** insects just above the waters surface - before i fall blissfully asleep...zzzzz.....ahhhh!
i love summer on the isle of wight!

Dyney,
nah! the sea breeze and quality island air is all i need!
the sun is shining again this morning and its friday! the firm also shuts at 3:45 on a friday, so after that its no work til 8:00 monday! a hot w/end coming up on the beach i hope.
alot of people diss the island for not having enough going on - hence 90% of youngsters leave! however many return in the summer (students etc) and everyone appreciates it for what it is - a beautiful place. you don't really need anything else when its this nice weather.
i love living here, i have had my time at uni for five years, and its now time to get my head down and rock on with the family firm. we have had a business in Bembridge, where i live since 1829. i am the sixth successive son to go into the business, so you can appraciate how i feel about where i live!
we have a great community in the village. i am sure you get the vibe (in a non-Royston Vasey context )!
looking forward to the w/end you loot come down.
