Ferry details have been received.

I've not had a useful response from Wightlink, so I am presuming that they don't want the business. Red Funnel are very keen that we travel with them, so here's what they have told me:

We have pleasure un letting you 'orrible lot travel for the bargain price of £40 per car including the driver and three passengers.

Additional adults will be £8 and additional children will be £4. [We will not pay for this, since we will be organised enough to ensure that excess people are distributed among the cars!!]

Bookings must be made 24 hours before travel, and be paid for at the time of booking.

There is a phone number and a code to quote for the booking. I will post these up when I get home.

Question

Do you know what the sailing times are as I presume that we would all want to cross together?

Quote from dnb:
Friday: (Southampton to E. Cowes)
16:45
17:35
18:30
19:35
20:40

Sunday: (Back again...)
14:25
15:25
16:15
17:05
18:05

Crossing time is 1 hour. It's sensible to arrive about 1/2 hour before sailing time.

I would guess that the 19:35 on the Friday and the 15:25 on Sunday would be a good guess at sensible times.
If we can just jump an earlier ferry if we need to, maybe we should book a 16.15 or 17.05 ferry?

Iain - they were Morettes that failed - weren't they...
Hope yours are well fitted

As for the ferry times, Red Funnel are usually quite flexible - they'll usually let you on an earlier ferry than you've booked if you arrive in time and there's space.

Must put up the booking code & phone number.

www.redfunnel.co.uk has the sailing times. Just remember to check the direction of travel...

Question

Stupid question this, but not being part of last year I don't know the form.

I presume we'll all be booking our cars on individually (no group book) and when Ian's got the Hotel pricing it'll be up to the individual to get the room sorted?

PS. I'm up for the 19:30ish ferry.

J.

Being a local, I don't know about the rooms. However, the ferry will be booked by the individuals. (Probably after a discussion here about times...)

fdpxfunix,
Dave and I will arrange the ferry and hotel group discount. So all you need to do is call them, give the ref.no. and tell them what sailing you want and pay!!
The hotel is the same. Call them explain your with the Subaru owners trip, the type of room you want and pay a deposit.

The Red funnel booking number is: 0870 444 8898

Please refer to the following when booking:
BROCHURE CODE QUOTE03 FARE CODE SCOOB

The hotel is booked, just working on the price at the moment

Iain.

Hiya,

Just tried to book the ferry, and they're saying that they can't do an earlier return than 1830 on the Sunday (has to be off-peak for us)??? Told me to call back tomorrow and speak to the manager.

I'll give them a call as well tomorrow - I clearly stated in my letter the times I wanted!! (The ones given in a previous post.)

There's always some problem...

On the phone to them now...

On hold...

Talking to someone now... Seems helpful

He says that later than 17-30 is OK, but there is a problem with ferries before this. Oh well, at least that's an hour better.

I'm now waiting to be called back with the final response.
