That's the fuel filter.

If you disconnect the pipe from the FPR as you say, do you not get fuel coming out of it?

Unblock the breather hose as well and see what happens.

OK Alan,

Thanks

Yes, when I disconnect that pipe and turn on the ignition I get fuel comming out of the FPR, and 2-3 bar registered on the FPR gauge.

When I connect that pipe to the FPR and turn the ignition on the FPR gauge sits at zero.

Unblocked the middle hose (breather hose), and still nothing registering on the FPR gauge.

Something I did notice though, the top pipe I have been refering too that is connected to the FPR (purple pipe in above pic)actually goes through the bulk head as the middle pipe, and the middle pipe I have been refering to as being blocked off by me(breather hose), actually goes through the bulkhead as the top pipe.

Sounds like a blocked pipe.

I'll have a check just now where my pipes go through the bulkhead...

Thanks Alan

That is exactly the same on my car.

So it's all connected up correctly then. Could it be something at the fuel pump end

If I disconnect the purple pipe below, and re-connect just a lenght of fuel pipe to atmosphere, I get the the FPR guage showing 2-3 bar.

Red face

Sorry Alan

I'll get some wax wizard on your car next time I'm over
(If you can wait till August )

Hi Andy, that is Fuzz's car m8,
I don't have a digi cam just now

I could try and get it started, the turbo inlet and PS res are off just now, but i can sort that out.

There is deffinately pressure before the FPR. I can get 5 bar + if I put the FPR gauge in here.....

Up-rated fuel pump was fitted last week, I'm wondering if the blockage could be there?

Definatelly nothing has got into the return pipe while I was working on the car, unless a wee beasty has tried to make a new home for itself in the return pipe over night

Is there any known problems with fitting an FSE uprated fuel pump that would cause for the return pipe to have to be blocked off?

Doubt it, cause you had it driven home.

The pressure will drop cause the pump isn't running. this is normal.

If the car was idling it would maintain the pressure.

So....what was the problem?

Meant to say, cause you have a Link ECU, when you turn the ignition on, the pump will only run for a few secs then stop. hence the pressure starting to drop.

Getting there Alan,

Seems to be OK now, I get 3bar just after switching the ignition on (while fuel pump is on) then tappers down to 2.5bar when the fuel pump switches off (car not running)

Thanks very much for all your time this morning m8, it's much appreciated

Talking

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......

Huh!?!

Gotta hand it to you. Considering the circumstances you're working under, you're doing very well.

When you get the car back running again, set the FPR to 3.2 bar with the vacuum hose disconnected. (When the car is warm and idling)
