Ordered 4 a couple of weeks ago, should have been delivered last Thurs 15th. Emailed David Hunt today, and got a very swift response. Basically they are working flat out to send out the orders and are slightly behind at present. Mine are now due Wed..so roughly a week late.
He was very apologetic and is doing everything he can to process everyones orders and get the tyres sent out.

What's going on?????

Also waiting.
Was supposed to be Mon 12th, he said sorry, would be 19th, still haven't arrived...
Getting a bit annoyed now because I desperately NEED tyres.
It's 215/45/17 I'm waiting for.

I asked if they could guarantee the quoted delivery date in June (6 weeks after ordering) plus a discount to the present price of £200 a set (I was in much earlier and paid £460), and was instead (albeit promptly) just sent a refund receipt in the post.

It is a bit sad when I was expecting such a good price and now struggling to get it under £97.60 a corner elsewhere. I just don't see how Dave can charge basically half this price - he must be getting them cheaper than most tyre places.
Several suppliers have said there are big problems getting this size of Goodyear. Blackcircles said they haven't been able to get them for months. I might have to get Toyos.

Well, I still haven't had my tyres. Emailed David on Friday and Sat and was finally told that the shipment for the 40 / 17's hadn't come in and was now due on 06/06 but that the 45's were due in 19/05 yesterday. So since I was debating between the two sizes I said give me the 45's coz I need them.
Phoned just now, told they have gone by TNT but didn't have the consignment number handy coz the office was being decorated. Checked with TNT no delivery to my address. Phoned David back said this is getting ridiculous, I'll come over and have them fitted. Then he said he would try to source some locally and call me back. He called me back and said come over tomorrow to have them fitted. So presumeably he had not sent them out by TNT. Seems incapable of telling the truth.
So we will see tomorrow.

Well my 205/50ZR16 Eagle F1's have still not arrived. Supposed to have been with me either Friday or Monday.. now tuesday... not impressed.
Just been on to David Hunt, he's gone away to find out what's happening but I'm starting to lose confidence...

Well its now 4:40pm and my tyres have still not arrived. These were loaded on the TNT van yesterday according to David, but TNT have no recollection of this.
I can't understand why he has to lie all the time. He told me he was going to have to source them from another garage too because he had 45's in and not 40's.
He was supposed to give me a £30 refund because they had come down £30 since I ordered them 3 weeks ago. Not recieved it yet either.
From what people say, Crossroads does exist, and they do sell tyres at the rates advertised. It looks like he has bitten off more than he can chew.
What if he can't get tyres at a low price anymore to sell on to us at the prices advertised, and paid for? As far as I'm aware if you advertise at a price you have to sell at the price. If you have taken the money then surely you have to honour the deal.
J
Edited to say:
Just phone David, got through immediately. He said he wasn't on the premises at the moment and I had got through to his personal number (must be redirected from 01730 233700). Also said that TNT deliver up to 6pm, but I should phone him at 9am tomorrow and he would see what he could do. He didn't sound shocked that TNT had told me that they didn't pick any tyres up from him yesterday.

James,
I am fairly sure when he says that TNT have collected that they haven't as twice now he has told me that and TNT have no record of that collection for my delivery address. I am very p*ssed off and would rather have paid more for the tyres than had this hassle.
I also cannot understand why he has to lie all the time either, I already told him in an email I would rather he told me that the tyres had not come in from the supplier than tell me they have been sent out when they haven't. Very strange way to run a business. Anyway provided he calls me to tell me he has some I shall be visiting him tomorrow to get them. I'll let you know how I get on.

Mine were due on 9th May and after chasing was told it would be 15th May. Chased them then and was told would be resent - TNT have been blamed for the problems. Sent two further emails this week but not had a reply yet. A few mates are wanting to order some but are waiting until I get mine...
Cheers,
Ian.

Suggest caution on this one.
The prices I've seen quoted are well below the buying prices that we - as a major wholesaler - have access to from Goodyear, and I would certainly have concerns that this is 'too good to be true'.
Make sure that payment is NOT by cash / cheque unless you are at the premises concerned. Use a credit card if buying remotely so that you are afforded some protection if it all goes wrong.

Thanks for the advice Hugh. I had already decided that when I speak to him tomorrow I'm going to ask for a refund on my Switch and then pay by Visa.
I have also contacted the webmaster of ScoobyNet to find out if Crossroads is acting properly and within Scoobynets advertising guidelines. The way us Scoobynetters are being treated is unacceptable, and as hosts of this site, it is their duty to enforce it or not allow the company to advertise on here anymore, otherwise more people are going to be drawn into this mess.

I must admit it is looking a bit flakey at the mo and Im glad I paid by credit card as I always do for such amounts. Luckily for me I didnt need the tyres and only bought a set of 4 cos the price was so good. The fact several people have been to the premises in person and had both 16's nad 17's fitted at the quoted price, is a good indicator for us all.
Its been 3 weeks since I paid for my order and the money was taken out the very next day. If Crossroads dont have stock then they shouldnt be taking payments. Most reputable places dont charge before shipping.
Simon.

I only asked about the advertised price is the price you pay because from experience at, for example, Sainsburys I have noticed something going through the till at a higher price than advertised, and queried it. They have then given me the goods at the advertised price, and then changed the label on the shelf. Obviously it is down to the retailer and is something to keep customers happy.
I too don't need the tyres for a few months but I just can't understand why David is lying to us all. I would rather he be honest and tell me that he's made a ***** up and oversold himself and now has to wait for Goodyear to supply more tyres on 6th June.
He should then stop taking orders until the people who have been waiting weeks get theirs. It isn't as though he's not going to shift them at the prices he's quoting. It's not right to take people's money and then not deliver. I haven't even got a reciept!!

Has anyone sent Dave the link to this thread so he can post a reply to explain whats going ? I emailed / spoke to him today re 215x45x17 he said he would have some in a week for £230 and to e-mail him my details and he would call me to take payment when they are in ?? looks like I've got more chance of winning the lottery than that happening !!

Finally I am happy! Having visited crossroads today they finally managed to get me in a set of F1 GSD3 tyres 215/45/17 and they fitted them FOC to my car.
So as others have said I think you will get the tyres but you may have to wait as I'm pretty sure he has bitten off more than he can chew and can't fulfill the deliveries for the moment.

Spent the last two days trying to get through to Dave @ crossroads... finally got through this morning
He was very appologetic about my order not arriving and his reason was that he'd got a query over my delivery address [my workplace which to be fair I've had queries over before ] - he'd written a note on my order to call me about this but hadn't quite gotten around to it
He has promised the tyres will be with me either tomorrow or Friday 1 week late though
I'm inclined to agree that he's bitten off a bit too much plus his decorating (sounded terrible in the background on the phone!) causing chaos.
Hopefully will see them soon.
You guys who have had them fitted... did he do a good job on balancing etc. What type of weight does he use, crappy clip on or hidden stuck on?
Oh, I nearly mentioned to him whilst on the phone about this thread but thought better of it as I'd not want to pi$$ him off before my tyres arrive although it wouldn't hurt I guess for him to see what people are thinking/saying about his business. Ok, so who's going to forward him the link... anyone brave enough

Ordered mine (215/40) end of April (£230 charged to VISA). Still waiting for another delivery date from David (3rd time lucky I hope). Tried ringing tonight but divert to mobile answering machine. Prepare to put up with the hassle because of the bargain price. Anyone received their tyres this week?
Cheers,
Ian.

I don't think i've heard of anyone recieving 17" tyres via couriers. I've been waiting since 29/4, and now just told 6/6 delivery so expect on the 8/6. Like most I'm prepared to wait because of the price and I don't need them yet. I have got a refund today (hopefully) on my switch and will now purchase them on my VISA.
[cynical_mode_on]perhaps i should order my next set now for next year[/cynical_mode_off]
