Is this a good price for F1's ?

Guys
May interest you to know that he DOESN'T have an account with Goodyear UK.
He'll therefore be reliant on other wholesalers or an overseas tyre broker. Either way he won't be able to guarantee himself a regular supply at the same price, so my earlier advice (pay by credit card) still stands.
In fact the moral of the above seems to be to get them fitted at his premises, or not to bother.

To answer on the balancing query, mine are not absolutely perfect there is a miniscule bit of vibration in at a couple of points. But don't worry he doesn't put weights on the outer rims.

Still waiting for mine and am starting to think maybe I ought to cancel the order.
Has anyone brought this fiasco to the attention of ScoobyNet?
I'm sure they don't want a supplier like this associated with them.

I emailed the webmaster@scoobynet.com a couple of days ago bringing the thread to their attention to see if they can either sort the garage out and stop the bull**** and lying, or remove the advert so that others aren't drawn into the mess. No reply yet. They must be investigating.
I too was one of the first to put an order in and am pissed off that people can turn up and get my tyre type fitted but they don't have any to send me.
As I type, my refund has just turned up on my desk. I will now reorder on my VISA. This gives me a little confidence that it's not a scam as Huge may be implying. Also, the fact that people can turn up and get the tyres fitted at the advertised price would suggest that they can get them cheaply.
Let's hope that I get them on 6/6, even though I don't need them yet.

For the avoidance of doubt I'm NOT suggesting that there was a scam operating here, more that with the number of individuals that had paid for but not yet received their tyres there was a need for others considering placing an order to exercise caution.
This appears to be a classic case of a supplier generating too much interest in an offer that he can't fulfill. He isn't the first & he won't be the last.
What p1sses me off as someone else involved in the tyre industry is that episodes like this do the industry in general no credit.

Well I'm in no hurry and paid by card so I'm happy to sit on the sidelines to see what happens.
In his defence he did say he was v-busy but at that price I'm prepared to wait a LONG time....

The problem is, they've charged the credit cards already, so we're paying the interest on that amount whilst they could be earning interest on our money, whilst the delivering time on the tyres keep getting delayed. Any other business (not in terms of car related companies) always charge you once they've shipped the goods out to you.
I was due my two sets on Monday, and now that has been put back to the 6th June, but going by this thread it looks as though it might be flippin ages. Do I wait? Probably not. Are they covering the interest accrued on your card when they give you a credit note? Guess not!

After 30 days the credit card company will get the money back for you. Simple.
If you ask for a refund in the meantime and it is refused then they can persue that for you earlier as well.

Received a letter today from Crossroads Garage apologising for
delay of delivery which should be tomorrow 23rd. Now being delivered on the 24th May..........
We wait with baited breath!!!!!
What did concern me was that my order for 215.40.17 was written
on the back of the envolope with the 40 crossed out and replaced with 45, so if I do get a delivery the tyres will be the wrong profile...
Why ain't life simple..........

There are some obviously frustrated people in this thread - I'd like to 'repost' a post I wrote in the dealer forum a few weeks ago:
>>
I just had a service & cambelt at Crossroad garage in Rake, just North of Petersfield, (used to be Subaru dealership (I think) in Cheriton a few years ago.) They agreed to do a cambelt & service with a day's notice, even though they seemed pretty busy. The garage unit is not the most inspiring (outside anyway), but they knew what they were doing and there were five or six scoobies there when I visited. They advertise on here & give discount for Scoobynetters. They found a weeping oil seal whilst changing cambelt and rather than just leave it they ordered another from Subaru (Proven, Sparshatts & Cheam did not have one) and delayed the job by a day. This meant they sorted a courtesy car out for me on a Sunday. Prices were good too I think - cambelt & tensioner fitted for £229, Rocker cover gasket replaced for £96, 15K service for £80 (including air filter - all Subaru parts). Quoted a new clutch at £295 fitted. Cleaned the engine bay up nicely as well. Certainly better service than I've had from certain subaru dealerships. I'll be going back & would recommend.
Call David Hunt (friendly & knows his stuff) on 01730 233700 <<
IMHO they did a great job. What I didn't include in that post was that he told me they were starting at 5am because they were so busy. I was also told that they are often asked to do work by certain local Subaru dealers also.
IMHO, dealing face to face, David was a genuine guy (and I surely hope that I am not proved wrong!). It was the first time I had used them, but the service was very good, and based on my experiences, I would continue to recommend them. I suspect that he has just been swamped by demand (and TBH the premises did not not resemble a huge tyre warehouse - they were fairly small and cramped). If people are getting refunds, and sensible apologetic replies, that would not appear to be the normal response of a 'scam', or dishonest trader?
I am not sure of the circumstances in which they have been removed from Scoobyshop, but I hope it can all be resolved quickly, and you guys all get your rubber!!

Good post Robs.
I was one of the first people to post on this thread highlighting the deal because it was the deal of the century.
I had a swift response by David regarding a refund and have always found him to be polite and apologetic. I seem to talk to him every other day.
I think what has happened, is that as you say, he is swamped with orders that he cannot cope with, and by the sounds of it he always wants to please everyone, so accepts the orders.
I assume he takes the money upfront because it would save doing the work later.
What is annoying people on here (myself included), is that he says your order will be delivered on a date, and when you phone him after it hasn't arrived, he tells you another date, and so on. On one occasion he told me it had gone with the couriers the day before, but I phoned them (TNT) and they said they hadn't picked up any deliver from him, at all. Why lie? Is he really that busy he forgets that the couriers never turned up the day before?
He is also still taking orders that he clearly cannot match. Will I be lucky and get my order 6 weeks late, on 6/6. I'm not holding out much hope.
I'm sure once he gets his act together, Scoobynet will reinstate his ad. I think it's a good thing it has been removed, to give him time to complete the outstanding orders.
I'm sticking with it because these tyres are at least half price. My trusty VISA will cover me, and I don't need them for a few months.

my tyres are due on Monday. But as I have received a credit card refund through the post this morning I dont suppose I'll be getting them. A bit disappointed - no covering letter, no explanation, no apology.
There is clearly no indication of fraud here whatsoever, as has been suggested in a couple of posts on this thread. The chap took on too many orders. Shame really as this will get him a bad name which is probably not totally deserved.
Oh well, better find some more tyres!

I've just spent 5 mins on the phone to David Hunt at Crossroads and feel confident enough to say he is a genuine guy who took on more than he could handle.
Everyone who ordered and paid for tyres (but didn't recieve them) will recieve a refund. This is because they won't be in until 6/6 and he thought it only fair that if you haven't got your tyres you shouldn't have paid. Everyone will remain on his computer and in the order that you contacted him. Unfortunately, there's about 300 people waiting, so there will probably be disappointments on 6/6. When the tyres finally arrive from Goodyear he will contact people from his list (in order) asking if you still want them. He assured me that they'll still be at today's prices.
David has seen the threads on Scoobynet and the bad feelings that are being generated, and has done all this to try and irradicate it.
Hope this sets peoples minds at rest. I will be taking up my order on 6/6 and hopefully recieve the tyres a couple of days later. I'm very near the top of his list. :-))

Ordered mine end of April and received a refund through the post today with no covering letter. I still want the tyres and have not requested a refund - does this mean David will supply the tyres when they arrive and the charge the credit card again?
#145
I'm still persisting with my order for 205/50ZR16's, as it seems the main problem lies with the 17" tyres. I am supposed to recieve them today, but TNT have already been so doesn't look hopeful.
Have spoken to David (again! ) asking when I am getting them, and he is due to call me back after finding out what has happened.
Getting very desperate now... front inside edges disappearing fast

As I said in my post, he refunded the money because he couldn't supply them for a couple of weeks. Your name should be up in the top 20/30 people he will contact when the tyres come in. If you still want them then he'll charge your card again, if not then he'll move on to the next person on the list. You should easily come in the first batch therefore get them 2 weeks next Monday (ish). All unless Goodyear send the wrong ones again.
DHayzen
Why don't you go to the garage and have the tyres fitted? It's about 60/70 miles from you down the M3/A3.

Yeah, I'm tempted to go & do that. Any excuse to go for a drive huh David Hunt hasn't called back today & now his phone goes to O2 answerphone
It's not all that far, just requires a morning off work which I'm sure I could wangle except I need another day off work to go to PowerStation (woz going to get PowerStation to fit them you see!)
Mmm... he keeps saying he's got them in stock, so maybe that's the answer. I'll contemplate thid over the weekend...

Having just purchased 4 Toyos I could have kicked myself when I saw this thread start !, I do think this is a case of David just not realising what sort of response he was going to get, and whilst it must be really frustrating for those who ordered, do you all need them now ?, why not wait until he gets them in, after all you are saving loads.
It also makes you wonder if he is able to sell them at this price and still make a profit (which I assume he is) why are other places charging nearly double ?, also if he reads this, there are what ? 26000 members, most of which will need tyres at some point, why not honor all orders up to the date the add was removed, albeit they may take a while to fill, he needs to communicate with those who have ordered to keep them informed, but if he can carry on supplying and these bargain prices he will have a steady flow of very happy customers !!
Flame suit on !!!
