Can the police not do something to prevent things like this? What about using something really flash like a Ferrari as a decoy, and then stake it out? When they come along to vandalise it, the police can pounce. Have I been wathcing too many films?

Is this entrapment? What's the problem with entrapment if it catches criminals?

I have to say that I like what I read in an article a few years ago in Performance Bikes mag where bikes were being stolen and others known to be at risk - a group of a few guys position a van a short distance from said bike (or car) and await the thieves (or vandals) turning up. When they do turn up and start to evaluate the vehicle for theft or vandalism out jump the blokes in the van, collar the person and take him into the van for a brief talking to. Thereafter there is a possibility that a baseball bat may accidentally make contact with the persons limbs !
With a security camera installed (but not really doing much good) this may not be idea but I like this idea anyway !

Inform the police that if they do not attend an incident where a kid wields a large knife and you are unable to protect your property for fear of injury, and by not protecting your property the kid is indirectly putting your life at risk (slashed tyres creating blowout) you will be forced to defend yourself with reasonable force. As the kid is armed with a knife, reasonable force means you can also arm yourself with a knife, and preferably a low-powered gun, as you are too scared to go within knife range.

Translation - Shoot the ******* with an airgun, repeatedly.

This is red mist advice, not legal advice, but I wonder if it's not so far from the truth. I also think that if the police understand that guns will be involved, from either side, they will sit up and pay a lot more attention. Of course, if you actually do shoot them, you then risk getting out of your car the next morning and being sniped at from the council estate.

Sorry to hear of your trouble tiggers.
You could try and get hold of a copy of the security guards
terms and conditions of employment. If you find that he did not
carry out his job as per terms, you have grounds for dismisal
Any future security contracts should include the use of reasonable
force to protect property.
I recently had my car vandalised, so i know how you feel.
I e mailed my local MP, and did not even get an acknowledgment.
No one seems to care a sh*t about the motorist
Its just petty crime
The laws need changing to protect the victims-
not the criminals

Thanks people,

I really like some of your suggestions - especially the aurgun one ;-)

In all seriousness I am looking into ways to get the security people to do their job properly and have asked to see their term/conditions etc. We'll see what happens as I'm not letting it go.

Regards,

tiggers

I suggest that:

1: u get hold of the security tape, or a copy of it, say its for evidence for the police.

2: send this tape to THE SUN with a desciption just like u have on this thread

3: Let the Sun name and shame the local constabulary and the security firm and show photos of each of the kids doing it, i'm sure their parents will read the sun and give the little $h1t$ their just deserve.

i no this doesnt help ur car or the tyres/wheels but at least u have embarssed the involved parties
