OK I'll see what I can think of tomorrow.....
Going out to an engagement party tonight, so not sure how "well" I'm going to be tomorrow
I suppose I can finalise the exhaust fitment and start hacking away at the front panel so the intercooler pipes fit, not a lot else I can do really.

Right I'm set on the idea of size.
If the bonnet catch stay / bracket has to come off ...so be it
I want a core that is 700mm wide and 160mm high.
not sure on 3.5" deep or 4.5" mmmmmmmm.
Tonight will be spent looking on the net for manufacturers of cores !

12 sodding hours in the workshop today and this is all I have to show for it, some bad news too
40mm flap wheels as Paul ? suggested, bit tight to start with but they soon fed in nicely....
60 grade to get going, then 120 grade to finish.
carbide burrs for the stuborn bits.
some adjustments to the throttle plate.
onto the manifold,
kept looking at heads and finally gave in.... they HAD to be done.
as for the bad news, I think my inlet pipe is scrap
packed up and went out, before something got launched....
not had a good day

£750?
I meant just the cores, not the cores + diamond ring deal.
I know they're bar and plate, but still, that's expensivo.
Chargecooler designed, drawn up and going to Pace next week, it's large, core on engine side is same size as a APS FMIC core for the 97-00 cars.

are you pished
got the beer goggles on ?
yes I understand.
tube and fin is not so efficient, so naturally I went for the better / best type available.
may seem a little waste at the moment but alll in good time things will progress.
This is also the reason I am hanging on for the 740cc injectors when she "would run fine" on smaller ones, trying to plan ahead and reduce costs you see.
How far are the injectors away Pat ???????
off to Alton Towers this weekend and working next weekend BUT in all likely hood the one after that is freeeeeeeeeeeeee
<wonders if anything will be ready by then ?>
Cheers

Oh, Those racing 8's..
I Set them to 0.75mm, assume that's somewhere in the right ball park, out the box they came a little tighter than that.
Andy
Edit : to make a sentence !

BEFORE
AFTER
Am I being picky or should I REALLY have had to do that !!!
Still ther is some good news (tainted though)
SHE RUNS !
finished putting on the water hoses, header tank, topped up the power steering fluid, fitted exhaust..
put the standard injectors in and turned the key for the first time in three months !!!
downpipe to centre section join is absolute sh1te so that will have to be ahem.. adjusted .. so it doesn't leak like a seive
but other than that only one worry..
turbo seems to have thrown out about a teaspoon full of oil into the compressor housing hope this is just a bit of bedding in ! will have to consult BR.....
Andy
STill fecking waiting for Samco's and Injectors

Didn't want weld spatter everywhere as the Tig set has gone back i would have to weld it with the Mig!
Along with that boss, there is the missalignment of the bottom flange of the downpipe, where it meets the centre section, that needs a quick cut and shut too.

Finally the Samco's have now arrived at Forge, just need to find time to skive off work and go and collect them
The end caps for the intercooler are being priced up today (being rolled from 3mm flat plate ally).
I quizzed him about welding them on too, but he bottled it.
Suppose I had better do it myself then..
Right then PPPPPPAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTT.
injectors if you would !!..........
Andy
might do a sound byte of the exhaust tonight

ahh ! all good plans go to waste, car battery flat so took off downpipe to "adjust".
looked for suitable nut to use as boss for lambda sensor but nothing around even close, looks like I'll have to make one.
Is it worth recessing the sensor out of the direct flow.
1. to aid gas flow and reduce turbulance
2. to prevent lamda sensor from overheating ??
your thoughts?
