200sx... My first really quick car...
S13 model (looks like a pimp mobile but has sexy popup headlamps) had around 170bhp standard and pulled between 6.7 and 7.2s depending upon year (some had slightly less power and later cars were cat-equipped).
I had a 170bhp one that was chipped and boost-valved to about 200bhp give or take. No way does that do sub 6sec times. No way.
I had one that was about 6yrs old with 50k miles. FSH, top quality oil, etc etc...
It blew its engine a year after I got it and cost 3k to replace (well it cost me 1k cos the warranty paid the rest).
I then had numerous other things go wrong with it - turbo gaskets go regularly (every year or so), coil packs, coolant leaks... etc
The newest one you can get (S13 shape) is now almost 10 years old (K/L plate?). If it didnt manage to do 50k miles without blowing I'd dread to think what they are like now.
I managed to wear a set of rear tyres out in 8k miles which was fun.
Mine was lowered when I got it which screwed the handling, making it quite unprogessive. It was extremely scary in the wet and would break away at the rear with the slightest provocation of boost.
I would imagine that you could buy one for a song, strip it down. Cage it, chip it, put some good suspension on it... and have a good fun trackday car. As for a roadcar...
