i have an alarm led in the bit that goes up to the arm rest pod it wont come out as it has no connectors on it so i have had to leave this as well got the rest done ok tho it look s good
any idea how i can get that alarm led out so i can spray it with out having to cut wires? i might just have to do it to get it finished any thoughts on doing this would be great full? can i just cut the wires then solder them back up once it is sprayed? will doing this afect my alarms functions as it has a key bit allong with an led the key bit is used if the imoboliser does not switch off i dont want to f*ck up my alarm

DJ, i aint an alarm expert, but, mines a clifford concept 60. The red led you can see is connected behind that little black panel you can see in the picture. Fortunately the wires are connected with bullet connectors, so i can get them off easily. What you cant see on the pic is the rocker switch (its behind the gearstick)
that too could have been removed if required. The thing that threw me is that little black round doofer just to the right of the gearstick mounted in that black panel. That had a wire on it that dissapeared into the dash, i have no idea what the hell that is so i had to leave it in.
I had no problems when i disconnected the led, well non that i know of

mine is a my98 and they have put the imobiliser LED and the key hole to turn it off if the fob fails on the bit from the hand brake to the gear surround. you have a new scoob so you might not know what i mean but it the only bit left to spray i can get the panel out put the LED/key hole has no bullets on them do you think that if i strip the wires back and get some bullet connections i can cut the wires get the LED/key thing out spray it and fit it back with the bullets. i would have just cut the wires if it had been just an LED but its got the key thing as well and i am not shure if the alarm will stop working
bit of a **** never mind
a good tip for spraying for ever one out there my dash suround had a small crack in one of the corners from were some one had taken a sterio out with no care i had to some how glue this before spraying i found that no glue would hold it good enough for me to wont to put paint over the crack so i had an idea armed with some super glue ans some thin strips of ribbon i but some glue on the crack and left it to cure it holds it but if you flex the suround it cracks again not good when paint might be over the top so i then glued on the inside of the surround the bits of ribbon just like butterfly stiches across the crack left for an hour to cure and way hay i could flex it as much as i wanted to with outit cracking again was well chuffed with it just thought i would share that with you all just in case
sorry if it dont make any sence and for the lake of punctuation
or spelling ....dyslexic if that is how you spell it
just read it it kind of makes sence !!!!!!!

I dont think there would be a problem cutting the wires, but i would certainly reconnect them with bullet connectors. Might be worth disconnecting the battery too before you cut the wires.
Nick,
yeah its worth it its a bit of an **** having all the gubbings stripped out for 3 days or so, but it looks so much better after its done.

3 days is a pain, looked like somebody had tried to nick it, wires everywhere. But sacrifices and all that...
Also my colour coding of my skirts has gone for a burton...I just could not get those rear spats off so I buckled and took them to a sprayshop, 200 all in to remove them and paint the rest up as well.
Not really cheap but I know they'll do a good job

I assume they are the same as my 96 UK turbo.
they are just clipped in place, however it does take a little work to leaver them out carefully with a flat bladed screwdriver.
The clips are bang in the middle of the vent on both sides of the housing, and theres one on each side of the vent........ so, if you push a screwdriver in carefully between the vent and the dash at that point and gently lever the vent, it will pop out.
Hope that makes sense
Cheers

Nick, where did the leather gaitor come from
Is it a universal one? Been after one for a while but no-one seems to make one for pre MY98.... Except Nitosport, and i don't like that one
Cheers,
Richard.

TSL do one as well.
I started mine by doing the door pulls and the surrounds on the handles and I'm not sure I like the silver. It does look good on yours mind, I just don't think I can live with it every day on my doors. So, the new plan is to colour code them to match the car. DGM could be interesting I feel.
