PS2 - GT3 - Time Trial - Poll
Hang on a minute messiah - if you're doing the time trial you don't get to do the last corner - you're rolling and get control at the start line??
Fave cars.. I have a raybrig nsx with na tune to about 6xxbhp, options, turn off asr and tcs. Requires a little finesse, but fast. Fit the turbo for ~1000bhp and it's undrivable - power comes in with too much of a bang. can do better times with 600bhp. Also, drive manual and shift early to control wheelspin. ASR = wheelspin, light tcs seems to equal lots of oversteer 'cos I nail the throttle too hard!! Like a car that's pointy, particularly off throttle, nsx is (very), tweaked a little to stop it spinnig on the brakes!
Silly car - TVR speed 12... 1000+bhp, wheelspins up to 200kph on the throttle massive exercise in restraint. Much fun
FWIW, the sempers lap of laguna seca (suspect a few lines are wrong). (time trial, viper)
start/finish, drift to RHS on exit of left hander. Brake on / slightly after the yellow area comes out to meet you.
carry a little speed over the first apex, (1st), tap brake and nail over second apex. drifts hard towards outside, change up on light, normally on rhs rumble strips on exit.
Hold second / shift 3rd for next right, bit of a brake on the way in, take a chunk of stripes.
Next right should be flat (slight lift to get nose in) stripes / grass (2 wheels only) on inside again.
Left hander, brake in a line for just wide of the apex from the 100 board. Roll around the curb a bit before going hard for the exit.
next left, turn in critical. enough stripes to get the car round, but not so much you bounce and slide. flat up hill, terminal speed around 205.
Brake *just* short of the crest on rhs, moving to the lhs as you slow. Straighten the corkscrew, must be straight coming on the power off the lhs. Pretty much what messiah said goes as my approach. Using manual box, leave it in 3rd throughout, possibly down shifting once it's straight. Avoids wheelspin / spinning.
Haven't got much idea about the left hander afterwards, appart from that you can go harder than you think early on 'cos as the road flattens, the car picks up front end grip.
right.. messy.
left onto straight. Eugh. Braking where?
For the pros.. I tend to drift out to the edge on exit to corners on full throttle and full steering. Is it faster to slow down and get the turning done more in the middle of the corner, then drive the car out to the edge (i.e. not sliding).. straightening it up a bit??
Right. Work...

I know about the last corner bit, was just thinking back to trying to get the fastest lap when doing the F1 style league.
Humble Apologies.

Just read this thread and thought 'hmm must dig out the ps2 and see i can remember how to drive quickly'
answer : no
only managed a 1.20.972
more practice required i feel !!
WizzBang
Ps i remember doin a thread like this a year or so ago about complex string, any takers for that one (rules : road cars ONLY, can be modified, but NO F1/rally/racing/etc - quickest is the winner)
