Hey guys,

Some of the other car companies have wised up in the USA. The WRX 2 litre turbo was such a hit that other car co's have caught on. Check the new Dodge SRT-4 to be realsed in 2003 I think:

http://www.dodge.com/srt-4/index.html?nav=top#

Dodge SRT-4, 2.4 litre !!!! turbo (can you say torque !!) , claimed 215 bhp (however every car magazine says when dyno'd it gets about 240 - 250 bhp with 255 ft. lbs of torque !!!!!!! ) 0 - 60 5.9 seconds, only downside is that it is only front wheel drive BUT....price $19,995 !!!!

USA version WRX, 2 litre, 227 bhp, 4 wheel drive, price $25,995.00

This Dodge is going to be some stiff competition to the USA WRX imho.

I really like the Dodge BUT there ain't no way I am buying a FWD car

Cheers,
Ray

Thumbs up

Oh yea I forgot the Dodge weighs about 2,850 lbs and the WRX weighs about 3,100 lbs !!! Safe to say with 2.4 litres, lower weight, and a factory quoted figure of 245 ft. lbs. of torque (independent claims say significantly higher) that the Dodge will smoke the WRX in the 1/4 mile (think 14 flat times have been recoreded).

Cheers,
Ray

We dont get Dodge in the UK except a few imports like the viper but there are in very low volumes. We do get cryslers, neon, voyager etc. but nothing that will live with a scoob IMHO.

ya,
i know you dont get them over there, but what i am saying is that subaru made some serious $$$$$ with the usa wrx sales, now with better competing cars over there they may potentiallly lose lots of sales in the usa. that coupled with lower demand in the uk etc for wrx's could potential lead to less money for R & D for subaru as a whole and hence a snowball affect .....just a thought

Cool

No focus or civic could taint my Impreza - it's a rally bred car, not a souped up shopping trolley.....

Can you buy an impreza 1.6 TDI, with 2 wheel drive and a set of velour seats ?

Even if it pulled up next to me, I'd think it was a school runner, with drag ! (Not that the Scooby can't school run, mine does occassionally - but my kids love it!)

Perhaps thats it, it needs an award to get the punters back.

They have a car of the year and tow car of the year so.

"And the 2003 School Run car of the year is ..............."

Probably some massively big 4x4 off roading jobby that nobody really likes but the driver thinks they are safe but cant park unless the find 5 spaces next to each other LOL.
