Lowering STi7 Type UK
#61
You've heard the same as me then Tony!
Proposed set-up will be Prodrive springs, rear ARB + uprated bushes, ALK & of course Powerstation geometry.
The Prodrive dynamics bloke Damian Harty seemed to verify that this set-up would get over most of my perceived problems with the STi7. Hope the springs are worth the wait, I'll be gutted if they aren't all that!
Cheers
Paul

I tried the springs and anti-roll bar method and it was ****!!!!
Handled worse than before.................looked better tho.
Car was then set up better then with standard springs and the anti-roll bar left on max hard. Car now handles really well.
We`ll see what happens when I get the call!!!!!!!!
Mike????????
PS. I`m not dissing the work its just pretty clear to me that the Eibachs being fitted are not intended for certain cars.
The guys that carried out the work for me were as usual first class and very understanding.
Shame they always stop for lunch tho :0 :0

Chelspeed,
Because I have asked about the STi7 springs virtually every week since Xmas, my dealer rang me yesterday and told me they were now on the system. Unfortunately I don't have part no. but apparently it is pretty obvious on dealer system what they are.
Cheers

The part number is SACC 2554. It was issued last year
Just because it has a part number, don't expect the parts man to find anything in the parts bin though

<Rumour mode on>
Emails received suggest this week (No Prodrive insider info sorry ) it does seem likely that even more delays on the Prodrive spring kits to what extent not sure !!!!
<rumour mode off>
I did broche this with my dealer today but just got a slight hint that they may not be available in mid April as my original Email from Eibach's had suggested
The MY03 STiUK and STi7UK, Prodrive Srings kits may now have the same Manufactuer

Russ,
how was you day??
Uprated 'Prodrive' Springs kits would be compatable for MY02STi7UK's and the MY03STiUK as it's a STi7 face lift. IMHO

Theres no doubt about it that the car needed lowering so I am trying out a set of H and R "uprated and lowering springs" on my Sti 7.
The car looks much, much better being some 35mm closer to the ground and the handling feels - well different as these springs are progressive.
The ride is best described as a tiny bit more "active" under normal driving conditions - possibly if I dare say it - even a bit more comfortable ( but of course I know thats not why we buy these cars ) but I am pleased to report the cars feels great when one gets down to harder driving. Maybe something something to do with the lower C.O.G. but I am no expert.
I had them fitted at the at the 10k service and the geometry altered accordlingly.
Anyone else tried these or thinking about them ?

It was indeed Adanau Forst
I also rate these springs. Together with solid rear drop links, a front strut brace and decent geometry, they really do sort the car
I do have a bit of rubbing at the rear though (big ole sausage munchers, Brunchen and 19" Super Leggs didnt mix ) Does any one know any places that can roll the rear arches in the essex area?
James.

Wahey !!!
Mill Lane called today to say that my 'PRODRIVE' spring kit was in !
£165ish plus 3 hours labour, going on the car in 2 weeks at same time as my 30,000 service.
He who moans loudest...

Mike W. - before I rush off and order the Prodrive springs, I would appreciate some quick comments on their impact on ride quality etc. I appreciate that its all very subjective but presumably they were specified by you to deliver certain characteristics. Personally I wouldn't want the low speed ride to be any harder/jiggley than the standard springs. I've not fitted prodrive springs before so I'm a virgin on the matter. Any thoughts appreciated.

Mikey,
I have not rode in a Sti7 with them Yet but would say on the Classics, made a great difference Lower, Firmer but still some nice give in springs no need to wear a Gum shield whilst driving LOL.
Mine due in for 10K Service Friday hopefully springs fitted then

Presumably the wheel alignment needs to be redone after fitting of the Prodrive springs? If so is this done by the dealer as part of the fitting or does it mean another trip to Powerstation?

Just picked my springs up from my local dealer. £195 (incl. VAT).
My dealer quoted £381.87 (incl. VAT to fit & alignment), so I'm going to PowerStation to get them fitted ASAP for much less and a much better job.
Cheers
Paul
PS. At last the long wait is over, I hope there are worth it!
