I have just read through this whole thing and i find it hard to believe that some of you think that your astra coupe thingy can keep up with a scooby!! i have raced and astra coupe turbo 888 (the blue 1 with a wing right?) from the lights in my bugeye (before PPP and before Scoobysport exhaust), and by the time i hit 60 the astra was 2-3 cars away (son looked not me) then by the time i hit 100 he was still visible but he was atleast 6 cars away. and before any of u vx owners get cheeky, he was behind the whole time. Also now that I have my PPP and full decat I think the vx 888 would be beaten a tad easier!!

Tony Burns is obviously an immature young lad, who's Daddy probably bought him the car.
Go grow up some before you can start posting sensible stuff.
I not into throwing toys out of prams.
Respect your elders sonny.
Regds,
Mantamagic
(30 plus but still a boy racer at heart)
PS. Vx has no rally heritage. But what about the Chevette HSR, Magnum 2300, Magnum Droop Snoop, Nova SR, Astra MK2 GTE 16V, Ascona 400, Manta 400 ? Vauxhall, as succesful in rallying as any other team player. After all, who Sponsor's the Network Q Rally ?

Manta brain dead
Whats up? cant you accept the truth and know that the astra turbo coupe isnt in the same class as a scoob?
As for being immature and having daddy buy me a car....
I know that your the immature one and none of my family have ever bought me a car, ive done it all though graft thanks and i OWN my car (from new), all paid off, unlike you who no doubt has outstanding finance on yours
If you cant take the critisism then get out of the real car scene and go back to lax power.com or whatever it is
So just to put a few things into perspective here....
"Go grow up some before you can start posting sensible stuff."
I have posted sensible stuff, you on the other hand havnt so you definately need to grow up
"I not into throwing toys out of prams."
Oh but you have with your last reply, no doubt you will believe that you havnt
"Respect your elders sonny."
Im actually probably older than you so you need to respect YOUR elders thank
"30 plus but still a boy racer at heart"
Shows that you still havnt grown up with all thats happened, its a sign of insecurity you know

Poor poor boy mr Burns.
I paid cash for all my cars and own a house worth a quarter of a million.
I happen to work as an IT Consultant.
You probably don't know the meaning of hard work.
As for immature, I am the responsible father of two boys.
Notice you did not put up your age ?
Are you out of nappies yet ?

So your an IT consultant and yet you only drive a vauxhall astra and own a house that costs 250k oh and by the way i won 10 million on the lottery
I really think that you need to become less abusive and take some advice from your son's as they seem to have more intelligence than you (and no doubt they can spell better )
As for never doing any REAL work in my life... YOUR the IT consultant, i know they dont do anything for a living but ive done more than most and definately more than you will ever do or ever see, and even though im not the most well off person i know that my life has been more beneficial to people than yours ever will and i know also that my aims are definately higher than yours (and achieved more of them too ) but i cannot really be bothered by 13 year old idiots like you who have half that mental age and then think they are adults (and no doubt im not the only person who thinks the same about you )
If you think your responsible then i think you should sit down and have a REALLY good look at your life because i wouldnt swap you for anything as you seem to be a complete looser who doesnt have the foggiest about anything
Have a rather boring life like the one you've been living
(well you've bored most of us on here so no doubt you wont take any notice of that )
Tony

I have a HNC (took 4 years part time in the evenings), Microsoft Qualification (they make computer operating systems), Novell Qualification (they make computer server operating systems), Cisco Qualification (networking routing devices and principles). Studied long and hard to obtain these qualifications.
As for knowledge and wisdom, studied various styles of Martial Arts over the years. Finished with chinese style as studied by the late Bruce Lee called Wing Chun.
Have always had a strong interest in Motorsport. Love watching the Touring Car series, find it is a lot more interesting nowdays than Rallying or F1. Touring Cars has become more competitive due to restrictions on cost and parts.
Have respect for cars and drivers who have respect for other people and their cars. It is pointles to debate over who's is best because you will always have your own opinion. I always used to insist I was right, but this was rarely the case.
Let's just leave it at I love my car, you love yours.
I apologise for any insulting comments.

Now that we are all friends again, can I just point out:-
New Astra Gsi
Power / Torque
200 ps / 184 lbs ft
power to weight = 157 ps/tonne
torque to weight = 144 lbs ft per tonne
Bugeye Scoob
218 ps / 215 lbs ft
Power to weight = 157 ps/tonne
torque to weight = 157 lbs ft per tonne
So, they have the same FLYWHEEL power to weight, and the scoob has 9% more torque to weight.
But the Scoob will have much higher transmission losses than the fwd Astra.
So it would be perfectly plausable that the new Astra, once rolling, would be quicker say 30 to 130 than a bugeye.
And as for the bollox that they are all the same engine with different quoted power outputs. 200cc different from original turbo engine for a start
And stop quoting 0 to 60 ffs - that doesn't matter in the real world.
Get real people.....
