John,

I had to change my dial-up number. What number did they put you on? I think I still have the .exe file for the old and the new number if you want to try them.

The second person to say TISCALI 50, £15.00 a month 24/7 and never had any reason to complain, well satisfied.

these days bt are pretty darn cr*p at providing decent dial-up internet access.

i have been with them for years. last couple months or so the service has gone from ok to ****.

so far tonite i have been disconnected 4 times - last time after only 10mins from the prevous time ! wth r they doing ?

i have not recieved that e-mail John which makes interesting (ie bullsh!t) reading. but i've certainly experienced incredibly poor service from them and had an update not long ago to my dial up software ?

they dont value their customers at all.

i quite often have the pc connected for 6hrs+ a day cos i use it whilst working at home for work stuff and to listen to internet radio. reconnecting after 2hr disconnection these days is painful. usually at least 6 redials.

as for ADSL i will recheck but 2 different BT departments have told be different things - 1 i can have ADSL now, the other I cannot have ADSL yet !!! jeez wot a company.

as those who play CS regularly with me will know - my connection via 56k on BT Anytime is cr*p and has got worse recently.

why cant BT just provide a decent service and come up with how much ? they set BT Anytime @ £15 per month and now they are no t providing a reasonable level of service. all this rubbish about using the system to much, and having to charge £100 a month for it !

i'm quite happy to pay for a reasonable service as someone who does use the net quite a lot.

i've been planning to go to BT ADSL but i think in view of how they treat (long-term) existing customers that i'll look to a different provider.

anyone recommend good ADSL providers ?

BTW : John wot tel number do u use to connect to Anytime ?

Bazza : cant believe u still waiting !

soz, rant over !

Steve,

I use Pipex ADSL, which is installed by BT. Pipex's service is excellent. Been with them for 4 years, analogue and ISDN, and have no regrets.

The dial up number is 0808 9933004.

They have removed my account from the other dial in servers.

That letter doesnt say i am contravening the T & C's, it just says i am a heavy user so will be pooled with other heavy users so i dont affect the general population who are light users.

They are uterly mad.

I sent them a mail back complaining and they sent me this, too funny for words. I even included the original mail they sent me yet they are feeding me with the same bull**** about their systems? This is a deliberate policy to remove people who want to get what they pay for.

I have put myself on a waiting list for an ISP that limits users to available bandwidth. They only allow new users when they can support it. My kind of people. The sooner the better cos BT can go screw themselves. The worst thing about this is they have lied for weeks to me about what was the cause of my problems. That is not acceptable.

Dear Mr Felstead,
Thank you for your recent email. At the moment BT are having problems with the new 0808 9933004 dial up number. This is mostly due to network congestion as well as some server problems. BT can only apologise for any inconvenience this may be causing you. The latest information that we have received is that BT has its engineers working on the problem and will have it resolved shortly.
