Easy Everything - Is This An ISP Too?
#1
My sister would like to know whether Stelios provides the services of an ISP in addition to his Internet Cafes.
She runs a bbs & someone keeps posting from their IP. If its the cafe, then she may not be able to do anything about it, but if it's also an ISP, then she may
It's not litigeous but very annoying.
Any help appreciated.

Interesting suggestion but: the guy probably only uses a web mail addy like Yahoo (guess why, he only ever uses Easy Everything to go online...) so even if you can find an IP addy in the headers, when traced back it would only ever come out to an Easy Everything IP address.
Would Easy Everything refuse someone access for being an internet pest? Do they have a blacklist?

ah but you missed the point.
it would trace to an ip addy in there establishment, and by checking which card had been used to access the net on that pc at the time the email was sent they could either check who's that card is (if you have to fill in details to get a card) or just cancel that card meaning they have to buy more time etc.
This means either a person with that card having to ask in store why there card with credit is not working or having to pay for a new card where you repeat the process (if more emails are received) and im pretty sure they'd get bored of forking out every time.

Except that its only two quid for a card (its only a bit of paper with a username on it) and there is no registration details required (name / etc).
I'd say she aint got a chance in hell of catching him.
Andrew.

Are you sure the IP address doesn't belong to Easynet, who predated Stelios by some years (IIRC correctly one of the Demon Internet founders -- Graham Davies I think -- set it up).

Damn, i was hoping the cards were a bit more money and like phone cards.
Still if the perp has got two quid left on a card, are they gonna ask why its not working, or are they just gonna buy a new one?
Personally i'd go and complain, but then I am a tight northern bastid
Puff,
Steve is working <cough> on the car next week i'm led to believe.
Removal of boost gauge is <hopefully after all the badgering> high on his list

Maybe blocking that IP address would solve the problem. Other than that, you are probably lumbered with this irritant.
In these cafes you can pay as little as 50p a time (into a cash machine) and get 1 hours surfing. I mailed some stuff from an Easynet cafe to my hotmail account, so they don't block that kind of usage.

They will still use an isp though, i would recommend calling easy everyting, sending them details of emails etc (which they should be able to use and trace to an ip address and see who was logged in at that time).
edited to say, could be snookered as i think easy everyting sell 'cards' with the internet time on them (like phonecards) and if you pay cash they wont be able to trace the person, BUT they could be able to cancel the card each and every time they do it, im sure they'll get tired of spending money each time an old card gets blocked etc.
