protect your family...

I still think the guys defence was an afterthought!
All im trying to say is that when that adrenaline is pumping, strange things happen in the body. You hear of stories of time slowing down, time speeding up, red mist, and people gaining in strength. Therefore i can honestly believe that someone can stab another given the right circumstances 12 times. We are all capable of murder or manslaughter quite easily given the right timing and situation.
Difficult to judge whether his excessive force was justified...
or whether 99% of us would do the same.. I don't think I would have gone for a knife but then I might have been the one dead rather than on trail...

Well said Mr Evolution...from the way people are commenting on this i think a group buy of knives is in order to stab the speeders..who like you say are a risk for my family also.....bloody good point!

So mr evo and imatrucas, what will you do when your family home is being burgled and you come face to face with a crowbar wielding intruder in your childrens bedroom ?
Ask him to sit down quietly while the police turn up?

DantheMan,
No but I wouldn't stab him 12 times in the back... and also he was not in the childs bedroom, if I recall the story correctly.
If he had hold of a child then I see killing the guy by any means understandable..
I agree that his rights should be removed as he broke in but that is not the law currently..
How can he be wielding a crowbar and get stabbed in the back??
He had a crowbar in his hand that he broke in with.. he couldn't have been wielding it else he would have be stabbed in the chest, shoulder, stomach.. surely?
Glad that one less burgular is committing crimes but the fact remains that stabbing him in the back 12times was flipping excessive force..

Once again, proof that the English justice systems places NO value on defending one's self - sad, really. I think it's a tragedy that a man's life has been destroyed by someone looking to make a quick buck through stealing..
Stabbed him 12 times extreme? Well, since you have NO other facts, at least from that article, making any kind of judgement is ludicrous - there's no mention of how the attacks occurred - no statement that he just snuck up and stabbed the burglar in the back. Could it be that the burglar grappled the fellow, and the back was the only open lane of attack? Could it be they were wrestling on the floor? Who knows. The man had numerous convictions, and was on the run from the police - doesn't that rather paint a portrait of a desperate man?
In the state I live in, I exercise my right to carry a concealed firearm - and anyone intruding into my home does so at their own peril. The American justice system, while bloated with lawyers, liberals, and overly litigenous plantiffs, still allows people to defend themselves - it's not perfect by any means, but at least I don't have to rely on the state to defend me in my home.
My point? When the system prohibits you from defending yourself, and can't do anything to defend you, it's time for a new system. No offense, but I put the lives of myself and my family over a career criminal who's broken into my home.

Its never going to be a him or me situation when you are stabbing a person in the back though is it and if you feel your concience will let you kill a person for a crime like theft then it all becomes clear why america is so fcuked up its because you all ******* deserve it.

Just read bits of this thread, and I have to say that as far as I am concerned if anyone conciously breaks into my home, with the intent of committing any crime against me or my family, the fukcer will get whatever comes to him. whatever his intent.
If that is a 10 inch carving knife in the back, a steel bar accross the head or my dog biting his nuts off. I'm not taking the chances that he may well have a weapon he will use against me.
In those circumstances, IMHO, he or she has waived any right to be treated with any human rights.
Sure, 12 times was excessive, but I cannot believe some of the liberalist, "human rights" cr4p I read on this board.
He got what he deserved, pure and simple. Its time we stopped defending the criminal and started looking after the victims interests in this poxy bl00dy country.

There isn't the space here or an audience with enough intelligence
for me to fully explain the impact on our society if cases like this resulted in no prosecution so why don't you all actually think for a second about what would happen if we all had license to kill people when we felt threatend bearing in mind that dead people find it hard to convey their side of the story.

Oh **** off if some sad feckwit wants to break in our home, he has given up the right of being treated the way the do gooder ars*holes want him to be treated he deserves to have the crap beaten out of him or death if need be.
Well said Basil I agree with you our law system sucks and is a joke you can’t do this you can’t do that to protect yourself look at poor old Tony Martin, how many times was he burgled? loads then one day enough is enough he shot the feckwit in the back who cares he got what he deserves and then the other feckwit that was with him wants compensation what a load of boll***s
All i can say Mr.Evolution is you must live in a perfect world where you have not got a crime problem in your area and you would offer the feckwit a coffee i suppose if you caught someone in your house.
Bloody do-gooders and human right idiots.

Just take the time (and I mean this quite sincerely) to put yourself in the position of the home owner. Nobody, not even you would know exactly what you would have done if put in the position of that poor guy.

i don't think there is really any argument here. He shouldnt have been in the dude's flat, FULL STOP. Tough sh*te. He took his chances when he decided to go somewhere that doesn't concern him.
I fullheartedly commend the houseowner.
And tbh, he's done a much better job of stopping that piece of shyte from burgling innocent people than the police would ever do. Doubt they would have even bothered to catch him.

I saw this blokes mother on daytime tv and she was trying to claim that her son had stabbbed him in the back as he was standing infront because he was taller !!!!!!!!!
Something just didnt add up he also kept stabbing him even when he was outside on the pavement.
Protecting inside the home is one thing chasing and stabbing someone in the back on the pavement is something different altogether

So most of you think murder is an acceptable punishment for theft now is it ? Some people were harping on about how the thief could be about to harm your family so killing him was OK what a load of bullsh it. Tiggs since you speed in your car I have decided that you are a potential threat to my family and am going to have to stab you twelve time's in the back to remove that threat. The fact that my family may never come into contact with you does not matter just like the murderers family were not even in the house. Think about what you are saying, would you want to live in a country where the idiots that post on this board had the right to kill anyone they felt satisfied was 'scum'. Get a grip you bunch of neo-*****.
PS cossi's evo's celica's supra's and XR2i's are all faster and better handling than scooby's
