Thumbs up

The video I have is a home made job, decent quality though Some interesting footage
I'm sure I could trade a copy for something that interests me
I've learnt a hell of a lot, and it will be much cheaper, and quicker to build this time. I'm also doing a few things, that in hind sight, I would have done first time around.

stevie,

nothing wrong with the gudgeon pins except the wall was too thin. simple as that.

certainly nothing for others to worry about.

Have a similar problem with mine in that they were ordered in the same batch, am now concerned by my piston crown thickness being too small, so it looks like ordering new pistons (with new gudgeon pins), and a billet crank at the same time which means at least another 8 to 10 weeks before any more assembly can be done.

Cant see this engine getting on the dyno before christmas.

anyone want a stock ej25 phase 2 crank?

Stevie,

Like Adam says, our pistons were spec'd based on size, compression, and power. It didn't dawn on me that the gudgeon pins would be wrongly spec'd. According to JE, it seems that we have been supplied N/A pins !!!!

JE state that we should be using their 0.180" (4.5mm) wall thickness pins, and we have been supplied 0.120" (3mm) pins.

Adam, always seems to benefit from my misfortunes

It's highly unlikely that anyone else will suffer the same problems.

Paul, I dread to think !!!!

Mark.

I assume that piston supplier is going to cover some bills here?

At least it shows the NA pins are good enough for NA engines....

Ooooooo, then Id be interested, for a quick DIY 2.2 attempt. I assume the crank is still a steel item as per EJ20?
Mail me with a price etc...I have a spare block lying about, and need a crank and rods anyway.

Luckily it doesn't need to

The Star rolling road is the most abuse it gets as the power run is around 30 seconds from 2000 - 6500 rpm.....if it survives that it will survive anything the road or track can give it
