I know they're not cheap, but how about getting a discounted banner ad, and donating the remainder to the charity of the family's choice?

David Wallis suggestion of a link to an organ donor card for those that do not already carry one or have it registered with the DVLA seems like a worthwhile thing that will have long term benefit following Nicks example.
Anybody know how to organise?

Unhappy

Should be just a matter of contacting Simon and getting the banner organised.

As this is my first post under the subject, I'd like to offer Rich W my condolences, I lost my sister at a young age, so I have an idea what youre going through.

Link, in the meantime, is..........

Also, another worthy contribution anybody could make is to become a blood donor?

Cool

Becoming a blood donor is easy and painless - a bit daunting the first time if you don't like needles, but they are very helpful and reassuring.

I go the maximum times a year.

They are always in need of new donors = you get some biscuits and tea/coffee/orange for attending and have points that you accrue each time you donate.

Yes, it is show how many times you have donated.

Your card changes colour as well relative to the amount of times you donate - my mum is nearing her gold which means she has donated nearly 50 times

She has a rare blood group and is being continually asked to donate as much as possible due to the lack of that particular group.

You get little award things too. I had a millenium coin type thing when I donated just after the turn of the millenium

Just to add to Little Miss W - they also need the most common (that's me! ) blood group urgently as suprisingly this is the one used most within the hospitals etc...

...I've still got a red card though - but I only started last year

I am blood group B rh +ve

Can't remember my mum's, but I think it is AB rh -ve? I will have to ask her.

I do know that when each of us were born there had to be no mixing of blood or such because of the danger to us and mum.

Ye cannae mix muppet and anti-muppet (or more correctly, "mummy-muppet")

Back on the topic, we are just finalising the banner and hope to get this up ASAP.

I have been thinking about this all week.

How about we do an annual Nick Wild memorial run, or meet? We could always have it starting at say Nick's favourite pub or place, then run up into the hills around the Dales/Lancs/Cheshire etc. Each run would cost maybe £3-5 to enter, and all proceeds would go to a charity of Rich W's choice?

what you may wish to consider is a track day, pre agree that say 25% of money taken is given to the familys choice of charity with the track in question...have unfortunetly been to a funeral in canada for a drag racer that died, its cumstom to sound your horns and rev the **** out your motor at a pre-aranged time(scooby version of a ten gun salute)....shall be thinking of the lad on the day, if im not ther in person be sure im ther in spirit.

(not my thing to reply to threads as a rule, but every rule has an exception)

Annual Nick Wild memorial run, or meet is the best suggestion I have heard so far. I think that is a brilliant idea and I am sure that Nick would have been quite chuffed.

I am sure a lot of people that can’t attend the funeral would like to come if it was held a weekend. Also a good idea to make it as a charity runs.

It’s just get it arranged now Dream weaver!

Scoobynet is now running a banner advert that hopefully you will see from time to time (it's random).

This links to the NHS Organ Donation Register.

If you haven't already, think about carrying a donor card. Of course there's good reasons why you decide not to, but if there's not... ?

Many thanks to Scoobynet for putting this up. It does mean a lot and is a wonderful tribute.

I've just registered and downloaded the temporary card.... I presume they send a proper one?

Is it possible to post the banner, with link outside Scoobynet? I know how to do it but are there any other issues?

Just booked the day off work

It will be an honour to attend

Steve

Moderators - Could you set up a temp forum for all Nick related subjects? (dont know if this would be a big job or not) as a tribute to his memory with the ad banner above permanently displayed.

How about we do an annual Nick Wild memorial run
Been thinking along those lines DW. I know Martin wanted to keep numbers down on his next run but a new "NW" Meet and run through the dales just seems to fit perfectly.

I'm also working on another idea, but I'd like to run it past the family first.

The banner is an excellent tribute to Nick.

Many thanks to Chiark and the other moderators and SDB and the whole of Scoobynet for their support.

It has been wonderful to read all the posts, especially those from people who have gone and got donor cards as a result of this.

Many thanks to you all.

Rich
