Exclamation

I believe that if you suspect an unmarked car might be bogus - even if it has blue lights - then you should acknowledge them and their request, but continue driving to an area where you would not be alone if stopped. Any Police officers worth their salt would understand why you were being "careful", especially if you are driving a desirable car.

So long as you drive at sensible speeds and not try to "escape" you should be ok. If the (unmarked) Police don't trust you or your actions, you can bet that there will be a marked vehicle on it's way - but at least then you know that the pull is legitimate (well, probably!).

I'm pretty sure I'm right but I don't have access to my copy of Butterworths at the moment I'll check and come back with something definitive.

I do not know how current this is, but I seem to remember from my training (let's leave it there, it was a long time ago) that 'The evidence of 2 people, not necessarily Police Officers, is usually enough for a speeding conviction'. Not all cops are ***** though. There is good and bad in every walk of life. The benchmark on m/ways was always >92 mph, unless you were driving like a tw@t.
