Unhappy

Go a couple of stone chips on my MY00 UK car (Dark Mica Blue Metallic) . Asked Subaru if they supplied any kind of colour touch-up brush and they put me on to their bodyshop in Princes Risborough. The guy there said that because the paint is now all water based they cannot supply touch-up brushes.....

.......HELP!!

Has anyone found a brush in Halfords that is very close to this colour? Or know where I can get one?

....Any help would be much appreciated.

Bizarre. I bought a DBM touch-up brush from a Subaru dealer for my MY99. I thought that the paintwork has always been water-based (and crap)?

I brought one too. My MY00 is Royal Silver. Cost 7 quid though . Maybe it's just DBM?

I used one on a metallic silver 98 and another one on a metallic silver 99,
both absolute **ite.
Both from a Subaru dealer.

I will also be interested in any info.

Cheers Mark

I called Quenbys in Baldock 01462 893255.
Gave them my paint code and voila.

Looking at the bottle in front of me it
says J3617 Ae00 #792 t-p arctic silver.
which according to Quenby's is the right colour. Tried it on a stone chip a while back and it seems to match.

Cool

Your Bodyshop is talking crap.

Go to your dealer, walk up to parts department with your colour code (on the plate under the bonnet) and ask them to order you a touch up pencil.

Wait a week or two if not in stock and give the nice man £7.95 or so.

Then phone the bodyshop, call the manager an **** and wonder why Subaru came 1 and 2 in the J D Power survey.

Most if not all car paint finishes are now water based and touch up paint is commonplace.

Cool

I got my touch up bottle from my dealer, just had to tell them my paint code from the plate under the bonnet. It is not particularly brilliant to apply but does look a lot better than a stone chip. From memory there was a thread quite a while ago where a few people explained how they had improved the finish with various tools.
