It on days like this where a battery would be handy; With all the cloud showers and then suddenly bright sunshine every ten minutes, my inverter has been swinging from generating 50 watts to 3150watts. Obviously I'm not going to switch on the washing machine every time the sun pops out, so tge battery would smooth out these waves of surges and troughs.

But I'm so iffy on Li-ion long term durability though; With 16550cells some stuff I have like my Makita drills has lasted 8years (ignoring the battery monitor design flaw ) , Whilst the battery pack on a Dyson V8 is knackered after just 18months. Then all the torch cells that almost always give up (Except my Bluepoint Torch which refuses to die).

And now my Chinesium jump pack has died - Laptop will suck it to empty in 10 mins and it won't even jump start my lawn mower with a partly charged main battery

So maybe tempted down the old lead acid/AGM route.

 

I had completely forgotten about the life span of the batteries That could change the whole cost if they need to be changed regularly. Does anyone have any data on how long they last? Assuming it won't be the same as your phone 18 months and you notice the difference in capacity.
