It was obvious at the time and I did sell it for a great price, but I just didn't have the disposable funds at the time to start worrying about cutting out and re-welding any rust that I had seen appear on many other Integrales. I had no idea they would be selling for close to £100k, that just didn;t seem that obvious at that time. The car was mint when I sold it but I was worried that I would be sitting on a ticking time bomb so sold it on for a very nice profit while it still maintained its condition. And now I regret not keeping it as I am in a different financial position now.
As for the stratos, what a car! I was lucky enough to go for a brief ride in one that was owned y a fellow Integrale owner, what an experience that was! He also had a genuine 205 T16 which was an absolute weapon too.
As a car enthusiast and knowing how special your car was, if history could repeat itself tomorrow, would you re-purchase the car to immediately to sell for profit for a house
or keep the car ...!?
I would 100% keep the car, I was just referencing the fact that these cars are so rare in good condition nowadays that low mileage ones have fetched close to £100k. I have looked at purchasing one again but they are just too far out of my price range for the condition I would want. Back then they were 20k cars with horror stories and I found myself not wanting to drive it as much as I would have liked and that just took the enjoyment of ownership away, so I moved it on. Now I would have it as a collectors item and a show car, but I am more financially secure than I was then.
Madness. I love all the old school, but why would you pay that when you could have a new Focus ST or Mustang for half that? Don't get me wrong, love the classics with a passion but they need to be 10k or less. Not 100k or even 20k

they are that amount because you can't buy a new one now ..it all supply and demand (same as property).so all things that is to do with that certain car goes up in value ..i e car parts ...a set on Sti alloy door kick plate are on ebay for £1K+...i was tempted to take mine off and sell them
As already stated, the 80’s and 90’s cars are fantastic and we’re much better days than now, just my opinion of course. Any car these days are fast and tuneable but back then it meant more
A bog standard focus st would beat a cavalier gsi which was iconic back then, it just doesn’t feel the same these days
you are correct ....modern cars has better performance and handling ...but if you were too young or can't afford them back in the day and you want one now that is the price to have to pay
I could of bought a Porsche 924 Carrera (the limited edition model that was before the 944..I think only 75 were built )in 1984, they were around £14-16K (s/hand) but I bought a Ford 2.8 injection instead because I could not afford the insurance premium( too young ) , wish I could turn back time now !

Even the capri is worth a fortune now, the thing is with new cars they all look the same ,if you put a new standard
focus next to an ST not a great deal of differance to look at, and if you pick the right classic it will make you more than money in the bank ,

True but the cost of running them until they achieve "classic" status balance out any gain in value...thinking back now I'd missed so many opportunities to make money on the car that I had like !!
Did anyone own a Subaru during the 90’s when the Astra gsi, gte..cavalier gsi Sri..escort, fiesta rs turbo was about? I’m guessing there wasn’t much in it acceleration wise?
I didn't have a Subaru back in the day but had a Astra GTE with a Tickford turbo upgrade straight from the factory, didn't own it from new mind tho, A616 SPU was the reg and it was a proper XR3i eater lol those were the days

the Astra gte were quick enough without a turbo lol....lovely car mate
Impreza (and 1st Gen Legacy Turbo) wiped the floor with most things in the early 90's and moved the game forward compared to the old tech Cossie's, etc.......
speaking as a non-owner at that point it took a fairly well specced FWD rally car type tune to get near a well driven std Impreza but like all things if the driver was a lemon then easy meat.............
16V Cav / Astra was fairly quick road wise but not in the same league

mostly fast(ish) Vauxhalls........the odd Ford initially, and then went through a period of 'bangers' so more budget could be spent on the rally car(s).......
favourites were a Passat GL5 Estate (5pot Audi engine) and a Rover 827 fastback that used to embarass Cossies speed wise

lol, the rover 827 takes me back, me mates mum had the rover 800 vitesse Automatic and we heard it from far away, was extremely comfortable inside with the leathers also...same with the rover 620ti...nice cars back then
As I’ve already stated, I cannot remember the Subarus/evos during the 90’s when we were into the cavalier gsi, nova gte etc...bring back the memories people!
First quick car Sierra xr4x4 at 19years old. Bought off a mate that had a beaten up looking xr3 that was a turbo'd cossie eater, suffice to say the 4x4 was not standard.
tailed a lotus esprit (Porsche etc were fair game) in it until the lotus got a tank slapper around a fast bend and bottled it, and pointed at a very twisty local backroad in the early hours of the morning it was epic.

This. No-one knew what my Legacy was in 1993 - the ultimate Q car.. As long as you were in the right gear, it obliterated most things in the day - outside lane of the motorway, cross country, any normal wet road or road with roundabouts to slingshot instead of scrabble out of.
My first Impreza in 97 already had a cult following so drivers of the usual hot hatches did their best and failed. Particularly funny from traffic lights.
I am now a mature, responsible adult so bought a PPP classic wagon, as the boot is really practical for tip runs....
Hi all, being nostalgic about the 90’s there’s a few cars I’d like to own currently at motorhub.I’m after the cavalier turbo, Astra gsi and Astra gte...does anyone here have the same nostalgia? I’ve got a few quid spare but is there any point owning these cars? Are parts readily available incase they break etc... cheers

Great cars.
you know what mate, I prefer the 90’s to now...I think It may be because I was a teenager but the older classics were much better, I honestly wish I could go back to them 😭😭😭
I am a massive classic car fan, and if you get the right one better than money in the bank, they do actually make you money sat in the garage, thats not the reason to buy one though in my oppinion , i guess your a Vauxhall fan Johno, , just research the car your going to buy regarding parts ect but with the internet now spare parts are usually available,
This is mine , not the most powerful thing (105 BHP) but a blast to drive and does get a bit of attention,

lovely mate...I do have a soft spot for a white cav gsi. I know it will feel slow to my blob but I don’t drive fast anyway. I will see what happens
