Coronavirus Pah!

The thing I like the most though is the “we can’t relax the lockdown until we are sure there won’t be a second peak”!
It is mathematically certain that there will be a second peak, and a third one and probably a fourth one too, as we didn’t let the first peak play out.
Bloody space cadets the lot of them.

But, we are now at the stage where the damage of either choice isn't looking a whole lot different! Choices, choices........

There is a subjective gain for the government though, as if they find the right slogan (“stay at home, protect the NHS, save lives” for example) it is quite possible to earn some brownie points with Joe-public and this is exactly what the plan has been all along. Talking about the catchy slogan, another one springs to mind: “Take back control” and we all know how that misled millions of Joes only 4 years ago. I would bet my left nut that it is probably the same person who came up with both.

Cummings and goings again eh?

Why the heck are garden centres and B&Q important at the moment? Why are they even being talked about in this nonsense 'easing of the lockdown' ? Who is going to B&Q? lol
And now Boris might go on paternity leave. Briliant

Question?
Who is specifically calling for relaxation and end to lockdown?
Cant understand why politicians when asked these stupid question can’t just say “It will not happen for x months” end of conversation. Instead they waffle on and on maybe this, if that, throwing it into ambiguity...even Wee Jimmy Krankee was at it, and conveniently dodged anything regarding scottish care home/hospice deaths.

Germany has only very slightly eased the lockdown. There is no significant increase in Germany since easing the lockdown, only the usual post weekend spike as many test results from the weekend are only communicated on the following Monday. The number of new cases in Germany is continuing to fall.

What really grates me though is how the politicians refuse to accept they made mistakes! If they just admitted their failures, then we might actually trust them a bit more!

No lockdown, loads of testing, no new domestic cases, this is how you do it
The problem in the UK and USA was one of personal denial by the "leadership". They didn't want it to be happening (Boris was focussed on the Brexit project, Trump on re election and the stock market), so they kind of ignored it for a few weeks and hoped it would go away.

I find it funny all the stick people in the UK have been giving to China about misreporting number of deaths, but the UK has been doing its own misreporting by not including care home and community deaths until yesterday!

there was was no misrepresentation in UK figures as it always said in bold type on every article that the deaths were from hospitals. China on the other hand has a population of at least 1.4billion and was the first country to realise about the virus, surely it doesn’t take much sense to work out that a 4500 death rate is a bit of a stretch.

Additionally, it may be clear in the UK that the figures were from hospitals, but that info certainly wasn't mentioned in anything I've read about the UK in the German media! The same can certainly be true for reporting of China cases internally and how they are reported in the UK. China has certainly made two re-classifications with each time a significant step in number of deaths. Looking from the outside, the UK has just done the same and suddenly overtaken Spain!
With China, you can never really be sure of anything, but what is certain is that China reacted extremely quickly internally and locked down the whole country despite there only being a significant outbreak in the city of Wuhan at the time. That lockdown meant that the Chinese New Year was cancelled. Their lockdown was severe and harshly enforced - it wouldn't surprise me if as many people died from breaking lockdown rules as they have from the virus! Also China did a hell of a lot more testing than the UK has and from the beginning were performing temperature controls for all public transport and when entering buildings - something that nobody in Europe has been doing.
Timing is clearly key with this disease. The quicker you react, the quicker you can contain the virus and the number of deaths are clearly reduced. In the beginning Boris was claiming the UK was a month behind Italy! In reality, it was probably 2 weeks behind at best and maybe even only a week behind. The UK was certainly in sync with the outbreak in Germany but reacted two weeks after Germany. Looking at the curves between the UK and Germany, the UK now looks to be 1 or 2 months behind Germany despite starting at the same point. Germany in turn also reacted a week later than Austria but was only maybe a day or two behind in initial infections. Germany is now maybe two to three weeks behind Austria. Uncontrolled, the rate of infection is exponential, so each day you react later will see an exponential increase in the number of deaths and the length that you need to stay in lockdown and with that, the damage to the economy!
The amount of testing you do is also not that important. Austria hasn't tested anywhere near on the scale that Germany has, yet has got the virus under better control than Germany. The key is really the contact tracing when you get a positive case and the strict quaratine measures. Something the UK has completely failed on. All that mass testing does is tell you how widespread the disease is and helps correct the fatality rates, but how you react to known infections is the most important factor and that is something the UK has really failed on.

As an island if you had cut yourself off a bit sooner then there is no way the virus should have got into Britain in the first place. Even now your ports and airports are still open with no testing and no quarantine or isolation needed.

Why can't these idiots just be honest and tell the truth rather than fudge the figures to meet their agenda.
