The reality is, until Brexit happens, remainers will fight to stop it and if they lose and Brexit happens, then they'll start fighting to rejoin again! I accept any democratic result, but don't expect me to fall on my sword just because I lost a battle!

As for AV, that is just a rehash of FPTP which still biases the result to return a parliamentary majority without an overall majority and will do nothing to fix the two party system. The AV referendum was a fudge by the two main parties to pretend they were serious about electoral reform without risking giving up the system which unfairly favours them, that's why is was rightly rejected! Only a PR system means that everyone's vote counts equally, regardless of where you live and end the quasi-dictatorship of an overall majority! For my entire lifetime, FPTP has enabled leaders to steamroller unpopular policies without a genuine mandate from the public!

Nobody said to stop fighting...fighting and winning is by changing opinion. Fighting by using belittling insults results in continued losing.

I don’t want AV either, I just mentioned AV+ as it was part of the Jenkins commision’s suggestion that labour swept under the carpet. Jenkins also rejected a pure AV system.

Don't think any Party is any good for the country generally.

We are just a great country and will be fine. There have been odd worse times. The odd war or too. Moaning about benefits of eu against the downsides will all come out in the wash.

Don't panic Captain Mannering! Not the end of the world! (it is for the EU and Germany though.lol)
And some scoobynetters.lol

I'm more concerned about do I nick the Christmas pate for on my toast tomorrow or stick to my usual peanut butter. hmmm

In fact, I have lived through two years of the 1960's, all of the 1970's,80' ,90's and the 2000's. Nothing has changed. Always something to moan about . Now its melting icebergs disappearing rainforests and countries doing a bit of bric a brac trading for shady deals

I love Britain!! Bet the Titanic wished the iceberg was a bit more slush puppy like all those years ago!

Guaranteed EU exit to be set in law

No extension, at last certainty for the people, business.

The EU can now work tirelessly for a good deal knowing there is no extension

We've had enough delay

All those jobs and improved standard living voters imagined Boris would deliver on being taken by likes of Dyson etc to somewhere with cheaper manufacturing whilst other rich donors buy themselves eu passports

And so it begins:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-50874181

"Lady Cobham, the widow of Sir Alan's son, Sir Michael Cobham, said: "In one of its first major economic decisions, the government is not taking back control so much as handing it away.
"In Cobham we stand to lose yet another great British defence manufacturer to foreign ownership, through a takeover that would never have been approved by the Americans, French or Japanese, all of whom have taken steps recently to raise protections for their own defence sectors."

Private company didn't have to sell, obviously saw it as a good business deal

The shareholders certainly felt it was a good deal. Can you explain how allowing the sale of a strategically important defence company, a world leader in it's field and a major exporter, to the USA, is a good thing for the UK?

You cant interfere with private company decisions. Maybe its not the best UK decision. I suspect that the UK government would not be able to buy out this company due to EU regulations. But then again governments whether Tory or Labour aren't the best administrator.

Im hoping that now we are definitely leaving the EU, this government becomes alot more private enterprise minded in the way it conducts it running of the country.

Less wastage more productive and if strategic company purchases are in the offering, snap them up

It's like with the sale of Cadbury. A private company, but equity investors manage to acquire a majority shareholding and force the sale against the will of the other private shareholders including the founding family who were dead set against it. The sale of Cadbury was a big mistake both for the employees and the UK, with Coburn is likely to be the same story. Cadbury was only chocolate, defense companies are another matter. Sadly, this is typical of Brexit Britain, just a big asset sell of to the highest foreign bidder!
