I’m ordering one this week so will see the weight difference and how tidier it makes my engine bay.

My type R is a track car so don’t need air con

The "saves weight" statement always makes me smile. As soon as you fill the car with fuel, add a passenger or even just the driver, the additional weight of FMIC pipe work and you negate any weight saving for thousandths of a second in speed.

My MY 97 WRX RA was, I believe, the lightest production Impreza made at 1190Kg. It had AC as an option but with a smaller compressor. It was like having a humming bird in the car.

One or two seats only, no interior trim and persplex windows is weight saving.

I would never consider buying any car without air con.
Driving’s just more comfortable with aircon.

And it’s my sweaty palms, not my nuts, that need cooling most after a cross country hoon.

I've got to an age where I ensure my plums are comfortably maintained in an air conditioned environment when behind the wheel.

Apart from when driving my 63 beetle of course, because I'm always more concerned about actually reaching my destination than ball conditioning when driving that.

Hardly surprising, I guess, given we’re just a bunch of nutters.
