The "saves weight" statement always makes me smile. As soon as you fill the car with fuel, add a passenger or even just the driver, the additional weight of FMIC pipe work and you negate any weight saving for thousandths of a second in speed.
My MY 97 WRX RA was, I believe, the lightest production Impreza made at 1190Kg. It had AC as an option but with a smaller compressor. It was like having a humming bird in the car.
